A dash would be better, though. mhmm Mis-use of hyphens is one of my few pet peeves with grammar/punctuations, mainly because barely anyone does it right, ever. Which kind of makes sense, because getting dashes is a bit awkward on any keyboard.

I generally favour the n-dash but in my fiction writing I tend to go for the m-dash. Purely for aesthetic reasons. N-dash all the way for anything other than fiction, though.

Same. I favour the n dash but in emails I use the m dash for aesthetic reasons, it is just more pleasing to the eye hmm

I look back at stuff I've written from a few years back and I'm like ****ing hell AJ get your shit together. 'Who's' when it should have been 'whose'? 'It's' when it should have been 'its'? Random semi-colons that serve no function?

Thankfully I turned to Jesus and he delivered me from grammar-based sin

this is the first time i'm hearing about this n dash m dash shit

I feel it awecool

Do you use macs generally? I can't believe how much easier it is getting dashes on a mac, after all of those years of hammering out the num-lock code on a PC keyboard it's a dream awehuhs
