Literally a minute after this post I'm called into the cafeteria at work because one of the ladies (she rides the transport) had passed out and was completely unresponsive. My boss is out sick so I was in charge of the whole place. Get on the phone to get the paramedics on their way and then back to her side to do what we could.
Luckily she warned one of our cooks (my father-in-law and an ex-EMT) that she was feeling dizzy before it happened and he sat behind her and caught her when she slumped.
This was just a couple minutes before we were to load up into the van for transportation home. If she had passed out while walking to the van or getting in/out of it she could have been seriously injured.
Paramedics had to come from the town over and her daughter arrived at the same time as them. They loaded her up for transport to the hospital for observation. Vitals were good so they don't think it was her heart or anything.
It took an hour longer than normal to get everyone back home and my papers filled out. I had to also fill out incident reports. Gah, ****ing stressful. I need a drink.
