They poke a hole through the stomach and insert a port. When it's feeding time you attach hoses and a liquid diet is introduced to the stomach directly.
My daughters gastroenterologist thinks it's the best thing we can do right now. It may help prevent her Cyclic Vomiting.
She's been so stubborn with eating lately that she's lost a ton of weight, is dehydrated and her bowels are completely backed up. We try our damndest to keep her healthy but it's not enough anymore.
I wish we had a proper picture of what she looked like going in to the hospital on Saturday. Her face was gaunt and pale. Her eyes were sunken in and had dark rings around them. My wife took a picture of her last night and she looks so healthy right now. Her face has filled out again thanks to the IV and the blood transfusion they gave her has helped her skin tone a lot.
