this thread is still a thing?

It's in its infancy, as far as I'm concerned ...

After a week of getting waxed, a good result from an experimental game.

A woman named Michelle Smart, who is little like anyone else I've seen.
After an armwrestling comp in 2015 versus a Tamara Mitts.

Fawnia Mondey revisited.

Pissed.

Game against a higher ranked.
Despite the fact he had TWO Queens I nearly checkmated him, and, given that I had a discovered check mating net AND a queen promotion on the way myself, I probably WOULD have if not for time.

I DID make a mistake many moves earlier that allowed him to open me up enough to GET that 2nd queen, though. Painful though it is to look at a loss after coming so close to winning it all despite the odds, I'll have to review this one -- it IS instructive ...

Still pissed.

2nd queen or not, this either would have been an outright win or one of the best fighting games I've ever had on the board. The bishops are able to shield me from the queens thanks to my king and the white knight at a3, AND project power enough thanks to their distance coverage to keep black's king in a perilous position and he'd STILL be a move or two away from checkmate if he tried to get a 3rd queen. I would have paid money for an extra few minutes to continue this game ...

Game won against a higher ranked via time over.

cosmic knowledge comes to those who wait.

The city of London was the first licensed Monopoly game.

To make the game relevant to British consumers, the names of the properties were changed to well known streets in London. This is a practice that continues today whenever the Monopoly game is introduced to a new country.

Within a year of the Monopoly game’s release in the U.S., 35,000 copies of the game were being made each week.

The original Monopoly game sold for about $2.

The Monopoly game is subtitled “The Fast-Dealing Property Trading Game.”

The current standard Monopoly game includes eight tokens: Battleship, top hat, Scottie dog, race car, thimble, boot, cat, and wheelbarrow.

More than 20 different tokens have made their way into the game, including an elephant, purse, and a bag of money.

There are 40 spaces on the Monopoly board and 28 properties (22 colored streets, four railroads, and two utility spaces).

There are three chance spaces, three community chest spaces, a luxury tax space, and an income tax space on the Monopoly board.

There are four corner spaces on a standard Monopoly board: "Go," jail/just visiting, free parking, and go to jail.
