I can play Chess, not well but I get the fundamentals. But I can't envision the pieces in my mind with all the variables, makes no sense.

Learn how to nest. If you find the joy of life as fullfilling as you should you'll always trust questions and answers and find a way.

I don't "envision the pieces in my mind with all the variables" either.
That's one reason I post such things here -- so I can look at them!

Once I've posted with some semblance of completeness, though, if ever in the future I wonder "What DID actually happen in that game? Was it what I thought was happening? How did I win or lose? WHY did I win or lose?", then I have means of answering those questions.

Also, though I've said it before, you should NOT, in general, look to much beyond what I explicitly give for general advice or general rules as something that is necessarily good to follow. I sometimes make moves with the actual intentional GOAL of making some of the worst moves possible. If I don't get too lazy, I'll eventually illustrate what I mean with the following game or some other similarly instructive.

I've heard rumors that some people carry a chess piece with them in their pockets like the King.

I carry the Bishop in my bum.

I'm thinking: "If a person really COULD envision chess pieces in their mind with ALL the variables, they should practically NEVER lose ..."

Which would be quite unlike my Israeli opponent here, who I was playing against as Black, and who was absolutely waxing me before the last 2 moves of the game ...

Felt like literal torture trying to type the letters and numbers of the long URL that represents that picture, too. Internet without copy and paste ability would be untenable.
