Simon Edy, known as Old Simon, (1709-18 May 1783) was a London beggar who may have served as an inspiration for a popular nursery rhyme. He lived in a derelict "Rats' Castle" in the rookery of Dyott Street. He was born in Woodford in Northamptonshire in 1709 and died on 18 May 1783. As he was a simpleton, he is thought to be a possible inspiration for the nursery rhyme, Simple Simon, which was published in the Royal Book of Nursery Rhymes nearby in Monmouth Court.
Simon Says is a children's game for three or more players. One player takes the role of "Simon" and issues instructions (usually physical actions such as "jump in the air" or "stick out your tongue"😉 to the other players, which should be followed only when prefaced with the phrase "Simon says". Players are eliminated from the game by either following instructions that are not immediately preceded by the phrase, or by failing to follow an instruction which does include the phrase "Simon says". In recent studies out of the US, it has been shown that children who engage in games like Simon Says develop stronger impulse control, emotional stability, understanding of expectations, and language and literacy skills.

During the Great Depression, Simplicity allowed home seamstresses to create fashionable clothing in a reliable manner using basic fabrics.
The song “Simply Irresistible" is the first single released by English rock singer Robert Palmer from the 1988 studio album Heavy Nova and is presented in one of the most distinctive and memorable music videos of the 1980s. The music video was directed by British fashion photographer Terence Donovan and shows Palmer surrounded by numerous women, all with the same heavy makeup and sweptback hair style. The video features women that Palmer met while visiting the Kentucky Derby (Karen Aubrey McElfresh, Kim Jones and Cheryl Day).
