Is not caller ID a thing these days? Bit of an unfair advantage on my part.

Do phones still have that feature??

I miss the days when you could call a public pay phone and it would ring

Public pay phones were the best indicator of what sort of neighborhood you
were in, if the booth was functional and in good condition it's all good
if the phone was beat up or missing and the coin thingy smashed open
you knew enough to get the hell out toot sweet.

It's how deals went down. I actually tested this theory out and copied a public number, then called it with my cell phone and it didn't go through

I don't know nothing about slinging, I usually hung out with dirtheads that had at best dregs of weed and no ideas how to get the good stuff, bless em.
