GL somewhere mentioned that he thought of Yoda fighting against Sith before. So Yoda might have taken one of two Sith Lords down at any point of his life and therefore he knew about the rule of two and he knew that they will return again and again as long as you don't kill both of them.
This might be also a possible explanation why Yoda is able to counter Sith Lightning.

I don't think that's plausible.. As we know the council thought the sith were extinct for a thousand years, I don't think they would be stupid enough to overlook sith popping up once in a while.

Ush, it isn`t like when there are more than two Darksiders they will instantly destroy each other. They would plot and scheme constantly, but Sith are cunning, not some kind of crazy berserkers. I assumed the main reason they lost to the Jedi was because of infighting, as Darkside seems more powerful offensively and morality of Jedi would be hindrance in war, but it doesn`t mean they didn`t pose a threat before the Rule of Two was established, just that Jedi could defeat them by exploiting their weakness- sellfish desire for Power. And Rule of Two was necessary for the tactic of taking Republic from inside- you really need total subordination and cooperation for it.

They can't all work together, especially not with a guy like Anakin.
Anakin would get jealous of our little Dooku. And what these other people concerned, they will have their own ambitions.

Such an organisation would self destruct. Ushgarak made this perfectly clear.

Absolutely. And the Rule of Two was in place long before Palpatine tried his Insider approach.

The point is, the Sith themselves would NEVER break it- they know all too well where it would lead. There is no get out clause of any more people they take not being 'real' Sith because the same problem still applies.

You can theorise that 'other' Dark Siders might try a different approach, though

a. GL doesn't really seem to recognise the concept of other Dark Siders

and

b. They would eventually fail in the same way the Sith did.

The Sith have no intention of deliberately creating failure again, so both Master and Apprentice know that there can never be any more. It's a fundamental GL built into his world.
