I have just reformatted and reinstalled Windows yet again.

Not for the second time.
Not for the third time.

Not even the fifth time.

It's #8 so far.

Me and my shitty luck, eh.

2000 Professional. Too lazy and out of funds to buy XP.

I had ME on my old computer, always had trouble. Ive got XP on this one, havent had any major dramas, just the occasional programs not responding crap...

I wish I had XP.

No seriously though, it isn't the OS. The virus may have corrupted boot sectors or actually managed damage your HD. However, before replacing that, you should just install it normally, get the proper anti-virus protection, change your surfing habits, maybe look at less porn, etc etc...
