Why aren't there two Chewbaccas? Or Lukes?

I know this should probably be in some other forum, but sue me. All I know is that in real life, you always know two or three people of the same name. At my work right now we have two guys named 'Ben', two gals named 'Teresa', and we used to have two 'Robs', and one time we actually had three 'Erins'. So, in the STAR WARS films, why can't there be a couple folks with the same name? I think it would add to the realism.
