this is such a smear campaign. "look, here's SS being taken out by an old ladies purse! he is <<<<than SUPEZ!"
"look, here's SUPEZ gettin a brain aneurism due to reading beowulf! SS is so>>>>than SUPEZ!"
it doesn't matter. on recent showings, SS>=Supes. this is more or less inarguable. And despite what companies say, JLA/A should not be considered canon for debate purposes. Does anybody honestly think that DC execs would agree to have their No. 1 character lose to a third tier marvel character? hell no. I would venture to say that Superman could have faced anyone in marvel under skyfather in that comic and at least pulled a favorable stalemate. Naivete is neither useful nor entertaining.
and the adamantium beam thing is a little sketchy. was that even in JLA/A? it was said that the beam was DESIGNED to cut adamantium...no telling if it actually does, and if so, how deep can it cut. besides which, why would reed richards have a laser that could pierce through virtually anyone in the Marvel Universe like butter in his office security detail?
why is everyone completely taking THAT comic hyperbole seriously and denouncing all others?
with all that said, i would say that DD and SS is true 5/10.
or if we're going for top end feats, SS 7/10.
<<Not bloody likely? You mean sort of like how General Zod broke Supes jaw and Supes was bitching in his head about it?
Zod is around Supes level; Thanos could break Supes arm if he wanted to.>>
breaking a jaw is the same as breaking an arm? 😑 you do know the size of the bone in the arm, right, compared to the tiny bones that hinge the jaw? ww broke one of his ribs with a punch or kick. that's no where near the same either. dd compound fractured one of the largest bones in the body. even supes himself says he didn't believe anyone was capable of doing that to him.
to say thanos could do so is pure speculation. thanos has been reluctant (by his own admission) to battle hulk. supes has gone blow for blow with him and appeared at least equal in strength. thanos has broken no one's bones in marvel that i can recall. it's conceiveable thanos could do it, but i don't think it's likely.
and kg -- if the guy is standing on a planet that blows up, and survives it regardless whether it appeared he was 'blown off the planet' by the force of the explosion, he still SURVIVED it. what the hell do you think does the lethal damage in an explosion? heat. concussive force. shrapnel that is stirred up. he survived all these things and was carried by the force. he still withstood the force.
ss has been punched out by thanos. were his punches each STRONGER than world destroying attacks?? how about the gun nebula shot him with to ko him. was THAT blast>world destroying??
don't give us that load of crap about him absorbing and taking world destroying blasts like nothing. there have been PLENTY of examples where it takes far less than that to ko him.

the fight happened in the crossover. doesn't really matter how many times it's mentioned later in the books.
Seems silly to discard something that both companies consider to have happened in the mainstream. 😬
<<it doesn't matter. on recent showings, SS>=Supes.>>
i can nearly agree with this. then take into account dd>>>>>>>AMPED supes. by your own admission that supes and ss are close, it should follow that anyone THAT far beyond supes would be well beyond ss as well, no?
<<excellent post Leo, I look forward to KgKg's reply>>
why thank you, mr splatt. you've been conspicuous by your absence lately, btw. haven't you heard -- it's dogpile on kg week!! and everyone is invited!!
😱
and of coourse, i too look forward to kg's inevitable reply . . .naughty

poor old Kg, yes I am very bored with the forum, I truly have little to contribute thEse days as few of the threads are new 🙁 and few are interesting I like reading a lot of people including your posts, but I can't really get into it anymore and I find myself becoming more of a carricature on here. oh well 🙂

same thing happened with the access crossover....

Is Superman really beyond Adamantium ? 🙂
Look at S'ym the demon. in Uncanny X-men #160 he snapped a piece of adamantium like a twig.

Really? interesting. . and that was where Batman did all of his nifty tricks. . .Do you have scans that can be used as evidence to prove that it too was cannon?
sure there's a reference in all access that describes how access met up with GL in the DCU I went to see it and it checked out...
<<Is Superman really beyond Adamantium ?>>
the x-over isn't canon, but it's not necessarily supes' skin in any event, but rather his aura that is in question. he HAS shown remarkable resistance to energy in the past. perhaps it is the fact that it was a laser beam that allowed it to happen? what's the alternative? that's it's PIS or one writer's interpretation that the answer to your question is yes.

it's funny whirly -- there was a couple weeks where i felt exactly as you did. this forum seems cyclical. i'll go a couple weeks with just popping in for a quick look then decide it's boring, then other times someone will post something that drags me back in. a few good debates lately have sucked me in. the tourny was fun. debates with ill and demi and lam were all fun.
depends on who's talking and about what.
unless it's kg -- ANYTHING he says is funny!! 😄
