Story: When his mother dies, Ed and his brother try to bring her back using human alchemy. When they fail, his brother loses his body. To bring him back, Ed sacrifices his right arm and left leg. Ed later finds out that he can perform alchemy by putting his hands together, and joins the military to become a state alchemist.
