Well, basically, he is playing the "I am buggering off with the money and the cargo rather than being blown up by the Imps" card.
Seriously, Cass, you come fron a disciplined world... you can't believe the Galaxy actually conists of these types of people!
Whereas Kyle is thinking "You know, I might have done that once..."
(Well, I was thinking that if we go to him the TIE's would follow. But, yeah, if they're hell bent on me, they'd still leave him alone. Unless anyone think a bride might help, I'm not sure what we can do. The only thing that worked last time was profit. Maybe we can ofer him a third of what he's carrying since we don't have money.)
"Hey there Buddy, where you going? Tell you what, you land that thing, and you can keep a fourth of what you're carrying, your pick. And I promise I'll keep flyboy away from you. I don't get along with him either."
No ideas on the one fleeing, but as the TIEs are ignoring him, would love of money be enough to keep the other smugglers from running if they were told to break into different trajectories from the Last Laugh and rendezvous later? Every ship that can break away from the chase (with the intent of finishing the run) is more of the shipment that we are able to use. I'm suggesting this because it seems pretty focused on the Last Laugh, probably thanks to its noteriety from before.
Not sure about the deserter. What motivates the average smuggler other than wealth?
As for Rhys, I prefer to wait on Brit, lest my impulsiveness make this obviously problematic situation even worse.
Kyle comms the errant smuggler again. He tries hard to use his 'polite' voice.
"Look, I know how you feel. I'm in your line of work as well, and I've done this same thing myself. The thing is, we have to get those weapons to the surface. The people down there need it. This Empire is trying to destroy them just because they want to do things their own way. They aren't even trying to spread that way to any other planet. If we can make it known to the Empire and the galaxy that tyranny isn't tolerated, there might be some hope for the future. So here I am, a guy just like you. Risking my ship, my friend, and my life for someone else's planet. Turn around and land. These TIE's are here for me mostly. Come down with us and we will do our best to protect you, even at our own peril. Or if you think you can make it, break away on find your own way down. It's the right thing to do, and I'll still give you that fourth we talked about earlier.
Besides, this Rebel thing is growing. We're going to need a LOT more weapons down the line, and other stuff, too. Even without joining, you can help us out while making some steady credits. What do you say?"
