Chapter 27
Dumbledore’s Weapon
Harry and Draco arrived at order headquarters; they were the only ones there as the rest of the DA was still at St. Mungo’s with the injured Order and other DA members. “There’s one more thing I need to go do before we go fight Voldemort. Will you be coming with us?” Harry said. “Oh, and let’s make it clear the only reason I got you out of there is because I know that Dumbledore wouldn’t want you to become a murderer or be murdered, he knew what you were to become.”
“No, I don’t think I will, I need to go and get my house organized, with both my parents dead now, I have a lot to get rid of in the house.” Draco said, and with that he left.
Harry sat around and decided he would take a trip to Hogwarts, even though he knew it was mostly destroyed, he figured he would visit it one more time, for he felt it would be the last chance he would get to visit it. Harry left for Hogwarts right then, upon arriving at Hogwarts he went straight to Dumbledore’s tomb.
“Harry” came an old familiar voice of an old brittle man.
“Dumbledore?” Harry said.
“Well, yes and no.” The old man replied. “I am his brother Aberforth you might remember me from the Hog’s Head.”
“Yes I do.” Harry said, “What are you doing here?” Said Harry with curiosity.
“My brother the night he died sent me a letter telling me everything I needed to know. He told me to wait until I felt it right to come to you.” Aberforth began, “He gave me everything I needed to be able to teach you to defeat Voldemort. As I have already begun.”
“But, you haven’t helped me at all.” Harry said.
“Haven’t I? Who do you think it was that told Lupin to trust Snape? Who do you think told Snape to tell Lupin everything? How do you think Lupin was able to help you so much?” Aberforth asked. “If it were not for me, you would have died a while ago for you would not have been able to properly defend yourself.”
“That was all you? But why did you wait until now to come help me?” Harry asked.
“My brother told me to not reveal myself unto you until I found it absolutely necessary, and until you came seeking for my brother’s help.” Aberforth said. “Is that not why you came tonight?”
“It is, but how did you know I was going to be here tonight?” Harry asked.
“I didn’t Harry, I just knew it would be time for me to help you now that everybody who has been helping you is dead so I arrived here shortly before you did. Now, I believe you have been working on a spell of your own creation. Is that correct?” Abeforth asked.
“Yes it is, I’ve almost perfected it, nobody but myself knew about it though, so how did you find out?” Harry asked.
“The same way my brother would have, by making sure he knew those he helped. You are an extremely powerful wizard Harry, and it has shown in your years at Hogwarts. If I knew my brother who was also an extremely powerful wizard he would have let you find out you could create spells at your age, why else would he have let you get Snape’s old textbook, the one with the spell written in the margins?” Aberforth began, “Now, only you can work on that, but my brother left me specific instructions to teach you something, it is a weapon he had that he never told anybody of, nobody that is except me. Harry, my brother was a powerful animagi; he could change into almost any animal he wanted, although his favorite was always a phoenix just like his pet.”
“How is it possible that he could change into many animals?” Harry asked, “I thought it could only be one animal.”
“Usually it is, but if you know my family’s secret you can do it as well.” Aberforth said.
“So you are going to teach me how to do it?” Harry asked.
“It’s simple Harry, so far everything you’ve learned is preparing you for it, just a few more things you need to learn in order to do it.” Aberforth said, “The first of course being, learning to become an animagi. This will take a lot of time and patience, come with me to my shop.”
“Ok, let’s go then.” Harry said, “The sooner we start, the better.” Harry and Aberforth walked down to Hogsmeade and to the Hog’s Head, the streets were less crowded then normal, almost barren in fact. “Aberforth, why are the streets so empty.”
“There has been another breakout at Azkaban, the few you guys put in Azkaban during the fight at the ministry have escaped.” Aberforth said, “It’s believed that the Death Eaters aren’t going to be taking any prisoners anymore, that they are just going to kill anybody they see.”
“Shouldn’t we hurry then?” Harry asked.
“Not to worry Harry, we will be there shortly, and you are a very skilled wizard, I have no doubt that you will be able to defend yourself.” Aberforth said.
They walked down the street and turned the corner and headed toward the hogs head. Harry looked down the path and swore for a second he saw a stag. He looked up again and it wasn’t there. “I’m just imagining things,” Harry said to himself. They entered the Hog’s Head and went upstairs to Aberforth’s office. It reminded Harry a little of his former headmaster’s office.
“Now Harry,” Aberforth said, “to become an animagi, one must have a strong concentration. I know that you have that already as I instructed others to teach you concentration. You must also have will power Harry. I know your father had a very strong will power and he has passed it on to you. One last thing you must need, that you tend to lack is patience.”
“I have patience.” Harry said.
“Yes, but not enough and I found the best way to teach you patience.” Aberforth said. Aberforth flicked his wand and a door opened up, Draco walked through the door.
“Hi, Potter.” Draco said.
“So, you expect me to lose my patience with him rather quickly then.” Harry asked, “Well if you don’t know, I’ve already grown tolerant of him.”
“It’s not that I expect you to lose your patience with him, it’s that I need him to help me with something.” Aberforth said.
“Well, what is he here for then?” Harry asked.
“That will all be revealed later. Draco, come with me, I need to discuss something with you.” Aberforth said, “Harry, I’ll need you to wait here, patiently, while Draco and I go discuss something’s.
Aberforth and Draco left the room and Harry was left by himself. “I wonder what they are talking about.” Harry asked himself. “It couldn’t hurt to just try and check on them could it?” Harry started walking toward the door, “NO” he said to himself, “I was told to wait patiently.”
Harry flicked his wand and a chair appeared out of nowhere. “You’re getting better,” Harry said to himself, “it won’t be long now before you can defeat Voldemort. All I need to do is be…patient.”
Harry began concentrating hard, he wasn’t exactly sure what he needed to do, but he wasn’t going to give up. He concentrated on just trying to become an animal. He was patient and wouldn’t give up, his will power was stronger now then it ever had been before. He felt something weird happening inside of him, he wasn’t sure what was happening, but he wasn’t going to stop now.
Aberforth and Draco entered the room. “Harry, what are you doing?” Aberforth asked. Harry couldn’t hear him because he was concentrating really hard on becoming an animagus. “HARRY” Aberforth shouted. “HARRY.”
Harry snapped out of his concentration, “What?” Harry asked, “I was trying to become an animagus.”
“It’s not that easy Harry, there are other things you need to know, although I do admire the patience you emitted while attempting it.” Aberforth said.
“What else do I need to know?” Harry asked.
“You have to know how to release your transfiguration energy in your core.” Aberforth said. “You see Harry, the core is made up of magic, and different parts of magic have different energy levels and are therefore better for certain types of magic, just as wands are. The core is made up of all these different types of magic, and the wand you have amplifies that part of the core, but if you learn to release any given part of your magic, you can perform more and more difficult spells.”
“But how can I tell which part of the core is the transfiguration part?” Harry asked.
“That’s what I needed Draco for, he is going to be using only transfiguration spells while you concentrate on his magical energy, and I will be using defense against the dark arts. Now, while concentrating just on Draco, you will slightly sense my energy and be able to notice a difference in the magical energy’s we are releasing, then concentrate within yourself to find your transfiguration energy.”
“Is there any other way?” Harry asked.
“Just one, the way most do it, but that takes years, and you can only ever become one creature, think of this as less of becoming an animagi, and more of becoming a powerful transfigurer, and transfiguring yourself into different animals.” Aberforth said.
“Then let’s do it this way, I need it as quick as I can.” Harry said.
“Alright, Harry concentrate as hard as you can on the magical energy’s notice which one Draco is doing, and which one I am doing.” Aberforth said. “Are you ready Draco?”
“Yes sir.” Draco said. Aberforth flicked his wand and a chair appeared in front of Draco.
“Keep changing the chair into anything you’d like.” Aberforth said.
Harry began concentrating as Draco began his transfiguration and Aberforth started using spells and curses. Harry began focusing on Draco and what he was doing. He started to really sense what the magic was like. He could barely sense Aberforth’s magic, and could see that there was a very slight difference. He concentrated again on Draco’s magic and focused on the very distinct magic that Draco was performing.
“I’ve got it.” Harry shouted.
“Well done Harry, I knew you’d notice it quickly once you knew it was there to be noticed.” Aberforth said. “Let’s see what you can do now.”
Harry concentrated hard, tapped into his magical core and began searching for the transfiguration part of his core. It took a lot of his patience because they were all similar. He finally found it, and started releasing it more throughout his body, once he had the power flowing he quickly began concentrating on becoming an animal. He felt his body slowly changing, once he felt completely different he stopped.
“Congratulations Harry, you did it.” Aberforth said, “and I might say, you still look just like your father did, but you have your mothers eyes?”
Harry wasn’t sure exactly what Aberforth meant until Aberforth magicked a mirror in front of Harry. He was a stag, just like his father had been, but his eyes; his eyes were still bright green. Harry slowly changed himself back into himself, and thanked Aberforth again. “I need to go” Harry said, “I don’t have much time.”
With the ability to act like an animagus, Harry was ready to finally go face Voldemort; he had a few more things to do before he was going to leave though. He wondered if he would be able to combine the spell he had invented with his new ability, if he could he would easily be able to take Voldemort by surprise, and being able to execute almost any spell without his wand, he would be unstoppable.
Harry left for headquarters. Upon his arrival he found the DA, Fred, George, and Mrs. Weasley. “Are you guys the only ones capable of fighting?” Harry asked. Hoping that the answer would be no and that there would be more people waiting at St. Mungo’s with those that were injured.
“Sorry, mate, it’s just us.” Ron said.
“Well, then you’ll have to do.” Harry said, “It’s getting close, it is almost time to go and fight the final battle. We have lost many in these battles, but today we shall be victorious. Not one death eater shall remain alive. Today we fight and if it happens that we die, then we die as heroes. Any one of us that dies this day will be remembered forever. Who’s with me?”
“We all are Harry, we trust you, and know that you can’t do it alone.” Ron said.
“Thanks.” Harry said. “I’ll do my best to protect you all, hopefully we have no casualties.”
Harry and the others gathered up their wands and a few invisibility cloaks. They then left for the Riddle house. They walked outside and were greeted by a beautiful phoenix.
“FAWKES.” Harry shouted, “Are you going to help us?” The phoenix sang it’s beautiful song. “I’ll take that as a yes, Harry said.”
Chapter 28
The final battle
With the Order almost completely destroyed and most of the surviving ones seriously injured, the six members of the DA, Fred, George, and Mrs. Weasley stormed Voldemort’s headquarters. There were only fifteen death eaters remaining alive even after the breakout at Azkaban.
Harry blew down the door and entered first. It was quiet, too quiet. Harry looked around and found no sign of anybody in the house. “Where could they all be?” Harry asked. “I know there was the breakout in Azkaban, and I know Voldemort was here.”
“I don’t know Harry, but maybe we should look around here some more.” Hermione said.
They split up and began to search the house. Harry kicked down the door that lead to Nagini’s lair and went down there to see if anybody was hiding there. He started down stairs when he heard Fawkes’ cry. Harry quickly ran upstairs to where he had heard the sound, and noticed many of the others doing it as well. They all gathered at the place where Fawkes’ cry had come from. That’s when they saw it, Mrs. Weasley was lying dead on the floor, and there was a death eater standing in the corner of the room. Where Fawkes was attacking him.
“EXPELLIARMUS.” They shouted as one. It hit the death eater right in the chest and he was knocked through the wall. Fred ran over to his mother, “I’m taking her out of here.” He said, “You guys go on without me.”
“I’m coming with you.” George said, “Just incase you need some protection.” Fred and George grabbed their mother and apparated away.
“It’s alright, we don’t need them to win, we can do this.” Harry said. “Let’s find out where the rest of the death eaters are, this one should be able to tell us where they all are.” Ron ran over to the injured death eater.
“Hey Harry, look who it is.” Ron said, “I bet you’d never guess.”
“It’s Crabbe or Goyle isn’t it.” Harry said.
“Yep, Crabbe.” Ron replied, “Which probably means Malfoy and Goyle are around here somewhere.”
“Doubtful to find Malfoy.” Harry said, “But Goyle is most definitely here.”
“Harry,” Hermione said, “I don’t think we are going to be getting anything out of Crabbe.”
“Why not?” Harry said, with curiosity.
“Well, probably because he’s dead.” Ginny said.
“Dead” Harry repeated. “We made short work of him.” Then he saw what he was looking for, “RON, BEHIND YOU.” Ron reacted quickly turned around and screamed “EXPELLIARMUS.” The spell hit Goyle straight in the chest, he flew backward as Hermione ran and grabbed his wand.”
“Where are they.” Hermione demanded.
“I’ll never tell you, you mudblood.” Goyle said.
“SECTEMSEMPRA” Ron shouted. The spell flew straight toward Goyle. Harry muttered something and flicked his wand and an inferi appeared in front of Goyle and the spell hit it instead. “Why did you do that Harry?” Ron demanded.
“Because, there is absolutely no reason to do that to him, we have no reason to hurt any of the death eaters but Voldemort.” Harry said.
“But you’ve killed so many of them, Harry, I saw you do it.” Hermione said, “so why can we not hurt him.”
“I didn’t mean to kill them.” Harry shouted. “It was always accidental. We aren’t killers, we have no need to kill them, if it happens and we can’t do anything about it, then there’s nothing we can do about, but we aren’t going to purposely kill anybody but Lord Voldemort.”
“How are we suppose to get information out of him, if we don’t torture him?” Ron asked.
“There’s no need, I know exactly where they are.” Harry said, “Think about, what’s the one place Voldemort wants control of?”
They all thought for a while, then Hermione realized what Harry was meaning. “Hogwarts” she said. “Voldemort wanted to become a teacher there hoping that maybe one day he’d become headmaster, meaning he’d ‘rule’ Hogwarts in a way.”
“That’s right.” Ginny said.
“Well, what are we waiting for?” Neville said, “I would like to talk to a friend of my parents.”
The group then left for Hogwarts, they were going to finish this thing tonight. This was going to be the final battle. They were going to stop at nothing to finish Voldemort. This was it their one chance, they had everything they needed to face him. They knew that he knew they would come, so they were going to be ready for anything, they had the maruders map to sneak into the castle with, they were going to do whatever it took to give themselves the upperhand.
They reached Hogsmeade and snuck into Hogwarts through Huneydukes. Harry looked at the map and discovered that Voldemort was in the Headmaster’s office, Harry figured Voldemort must have repaired the damages Harry had done the last time he was here. There were three guards at the entrance including Bellatrix Lestrange.
“We need to make some noise to bring the death eaters to us. There are a total of thirteen death eaters and Voldemort.” Harry said, “we can do this.” Harry sent a spell right at the closest wall, it made a loud noise he was sure would alert the death eaters. He looked at the map and sure enough the nearest death eaters were closing in on them. Harry prepared the DA to fight, they stood their ground and when the death eaters walked around the corner, they hadn’t known what hit them. Two of the death eaters were taken down by the DA’s spells, one by Neville and another by Ginny.
They started proceeding to where Voldermort was. There were eleven death eaters in between them and Voldemort including Bellatrix Lestrange. Harry and the rest of the DA took off after them. They couldn’t find them where they had been on the map. It must have been as Goyle had said, they were expecting them. They looked at the map and discovered they were all in the great hall, and Voldemort was in the room directly behind it where Harry and the other champions had gone during his fourth year. The death eaters were going to do their best to protect their master.
The DA changed course and ran directly toward the great hall. There were six of the remaining eleven death eaters guarding the entrance and the other six waiting on the inside. They arrived outside the great hall, and were greeted by the six death eaters, there was one for each of them. Harry knew they were there and sent a spell at them from a distance.
Neville followed suit and sent a stunning spell at one death eater as well. Luna as well took out a death eater quickly while the other three stayed and fought the last three death eaters there. Harry, Neville, and Luna entered the great hall and were shortly joined by Ginny. There were four death eaters in this room, with Bellatrix and Voldemort in the back room. The death eaters fought their best to stop the DA, but the DA was relentless. They weren’t going to leave anybody unharmed.
Ron and Hermione then barged in through the door as the other four were fighting the death eaters in the great hall. Neville and Harry were quickly replaced by Hermione and Ron, and Neville and Harry burst through the back door.
“Welcome Harry, and I see you’ve brought a friend.” Voldemort hissed.
“Yeah, and he has some business to take care of with your friend there.” Harry hissed back.
“AVADA KEDAVRA.” Bellatrix screamed. The jet of green light was sent straight at Neville. Harry quickly reacted and knocked Neville to the ground, the spell flew right past them. Harry and Neville got up and they proceeded back out into the room behind them, they noticed Ginny and Luna were still fighting their death eaters, and Ron and Hermione weren’t moving on the ground. “They’re dead” he thought.
Voldemort and Bellatrix followed them out of the room. Just then Harry noticed Fawkes, he had forgotten he was there. The best part was, nobody else knew he was there either, he was sitting in the corner beautiful and magnificent.
“You destroyed my parents.” Neville screamed at Bellatrix, “You will pay for what you did. Sectumsempra.”
“You’ll have to do better then that boy.” Bellatrix said. “CRUCIO”
The spell hit Neville square in the chest, he fell to the ground writhing in pain. Neville got up ready to take Bellatrix down. Neville got up and sent a stunning spell at Bellatrix, she jumped out of the way. Harry noticed Fawkes fly off from the corner toward Ron and Hermione. He watched as Fawkes healed them, and watched as they stood up.
“Harry behind you.” Ginny screamed as she jumped in the way of Voldemort’s killing curse. It seemed that she just disappeared into thin air. She was dead they all knew it. Luna just stopped and stared for a second before realizing she was still in a fight. She went back to fighting the death eater but nobody could win. Ron screamed for his sister but he and Hermione were still to weak to do anything.
Harry then noticed out of the corner of his eye as he was now fighting Voldemort, Neville finally defeating Bellatrix, he watched as she fell to the ground and stopped moving. Then Harry saw Neville bind her and leave her there. Neville took Hermione and Ron and ran out of the castle. There were two death eaters remaining alive now, and Voldemort, Bellatrix was incapacitated and couldn’t fight and Harry knew he could use this to his advantage.
As the battle between Voldemort and Harry raged on, Harry could notice a change in himself, he felt a strong power of love coming into him and taking away the anger he had been carrying for a year now. “You will not win.” Harry said, “I have your one weakness inside me, Love.”
“That shall not work on me, Potter, I’ve had my death eaters working really hard to make sure you were angry, and I believe I pushed you over the edge a while ago.” Voldemort hissed.
“The thing is, I’ve been holding back on you this whole time.” Harry said.
“Don’t lie to me boy.”
“I’m not lying. You see, I’m not like you, I actually show love and kindness to my opponent by letting them live. If it were not for me, you never would have returned, I allowed Peter to escape that day, I let him live.”
“AVADA KEDAVRA” the spell shot straight at Harry.
“This is it, now or never.” Harry thought, “let’s show him what I can do.” Harry quickly concentrated, and transfigured himself into a snake just missing the attack, then he transfigured himself into a phoenix and flew right at Voldemort. Voldemort began sending spells at him, but for everything he did, Harry countered it by becoming a different animal, finally Harry saw his point and transfigured into a stag just like his father and charged at Voldemort. He knocked him to the ground and transfigured himself back to normal. “This is it,” he said, “It’s over.”
“It’s not over.” Voldemort said, “No one can defeat the last descendant of Salazar Slytherin.”
“Nobody except the heir of Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.” Harry said.
“And the heir of Ravenclaw.” Luna said, having now joined the fight at Harry’s side.
“What do you know,” Voldemort said, “I get to take down all the remaining heirs at once, and then I shall rule Hogwarts and the magical world.”
“Not likely.” Harry said, “You still haven’t seen the beginning of what I can do.”
“You will die today Potter, and once you do, I will take control of the wizarding world.” Voldemort hissed, “with you gone, nobody can stop me.”
“If I go, you go with me. You forget, I know what the prophecy said.” Harry responded. “Dumbledore told me word for word what it said.”
“AVADA KEDAVRA” Voldemort said. This was it, this was the chance Harry was waiting for, he raised his wand. “SECTEMSEMPRA” the wands met once again in priori incantatem. Harry grabbed onto his wand with both hands as it began shaking. The thick golden wand appeared connecting their wands and they each pushed the bead towards the others wand. They were once again entered into a battle of wills. Harry now had exactly what he was waiting for, Harry allowed Voldemort to push the bead into his own wand. Spells started being shown from Harry’s wand again, then all of a sudden both Voldemort and Harry exploded just as Ginny had done. Voldemort was finally defeated, but at the cost of a great number of men, and a number of great men.
Luna sat down and cried at the loss of her friends, she left the room and went to find the others. She had to tell them what happened. The entire wizarding community both celebrated and mourned that night. They lost their greatest hero ever, but he had also destroyed their greatest enemy.
Chapter 29
Hogwarts Rebuilt
Years have past since that fateful day when Harry Potter vanquished the Dark Lord. Many people died in the battle including the hero himself. Now there was a boy about eleven years old, with red curly hair, and freckles. This little boys name was Harry Albus Weasley. He was outside of a house that would remind most of the leaning tower of Pisa, the houses name was the Burrow. Harry’s parents watched as he played with his twin sister, whose name was Ginerva Molly Weasley, she was named after her aunt and grandmother, who both perished that fateful day nearly fifteen years ago. The tall red haired freckled man, called to his children. “Harry, Ginny time to come in, you guys start school tomorrow.”
“Okay dad,” Harry said, “When are Uncle Fred and George coming?”
“Yeah,” Ginny said, “They promised to bring us some stuff for school.”
“They’ll arrive later tonight, and I’ll have to take a look at everything they want to give you” Said their bushy haired mother. “Now let’s have dinner bedtime is in an hour and a half.” Just then they heard two loud cracks behind them.
“Ron, Hermione how are you guys? And more importantly, how are our favorite twins?” Fred said.
“We are good, Fred. Hello Angelina.” Hermione said.
“Hi.” Angelina said.
“Where is little Forge?” Ron asked.
“Well, he’s with his Uncle George so he can play with his cousin Gred. Speaking of such, they should be here soon.” Fred said. Again they heard another two cracks, this time with two adults and two children appearing.
“Dad,” yelled one of the boys, who came running to Fred. He was darker then most people there except his mother, with reddish black hair.
“George,” Fred said, “Long time no see,”
“Yeah, what’s it been Fred five whole minutes?” George said.
“Hi Alicia,” Angelina said.
“This is kind of like a quidditch reunion; we are only missing Ginny and Harry who both sadly lost their lives in the fight against Voldemort.” Ron said.
Gred and Forge were around the age of thirteen; conveniently they were born on the same day, and acted just like their fathers. Gred and Forge ran over to Harry and Ginny and asked if they wanted to play some quidditch before school started. The four children grabbed their brooms and headed off to play some quidditch.
“So Fred, George how is the joke shop doing?” Ron asked
“Well, as you know Ron, we’ve moved the store to Hogsmeade. We put Zonko’s out of business, and our store is more popular then any joke shop ever. So I would say it’s doing great.” Fred said. “How about you Ron, what do you do again?”
“Well I’m the Transfiguration teacher at the newly rebuilt Hogwarts.”
“Which of course we rebuilt,” George said, “We made a great team guys, oh, and we created a marauders map for the grounds as well.”
“Hermione what do you do again? Aren’t you the school’s librarian?” Angelina asked.
“Yes and which Quidditch team do you and Alicia play for again?”
“The Holyhead Harpies” Angelina said.
“It’s kind of interesting to see how much we have all changed in the past fifteen years, and what we have become. I just wish Harry could be here to see all of this.” Just then they heard two more loud cracks.
“Neville, Luna it’s great to see you guys again, I’m glad you guys could make it. Where’s your little girl? She’s Harry and Ginny’s age right?” Ron said.
“Yeah she starts school this year as well. She is kind of worried about having me as her Herbology teacher though.” Neville said, “but other then that Alice is fine.”
“Alice? Is that after your mother Neville?” Hermione asked.
“Yes.”
“Do you think our kids will all be as good of friends as we were?” Neville asked. “Alice kind of inherited my magical talent, not really strong while young, but she is clever like her mother. So she could use friends like we were.”
“Hopefully, they are all starting in the same year like we did, and Forge and Gred are two years older and can look after them, like Fred and George had done for us. Well hopefully they aren’t as much of trouble makers as their fathers.” Hermione said.
“Luna, you took over for your father as editor of the Quibbler right?”
“I sure did, and our sales have never been higher. We print stories about people that think Harry is still alive and they have seen him.” Luna said, “Even though I know he isn’t since I witnessed it, but the readers still like to think their hero is still alive.”
“Well, I think we should get to dinner, it’s getting late and the kids need to get to bed soon.” Fred said.
The group all went into the burrow and sat down to dinner. They enjoyed a wonderful meal made by Hermione using a recipe of Molly’s that she had found. After dinner the adults stayed up while they sent their children to bed, there was one room for each family.
“Ron, since you are one of the teachers at Hogwarts, do you know who the rest are?” Fred asked.
“Well Professor Binns is still teaching History of Magic since he’s a ghost. Neville is the herbology teacher, I am the transfiguration teacher. We have another new defense against the dark arts teacher whose name I don’t know yet. The charms teacher is Fleur; the potions master is Draco Malfoy kind of hard to believe he never wanted to be a death eater. Care of magical creatures will be headed by Charlie, and of course dad is headmaster.” Ron replied. “Any thing else you’d like to know?”
“Nah, that’s about it.” Fred said, “do you think we will ever get dad to allow us to move our store into Hogwarts?”
“Highly unlikely.” Hermione said.
“Hey, do you guys remember that year when Umbridge was the defense against the dark arts teacher?” George asked.
“Yeah, that was the year you guys dropped out of school, it took weeks to clean up the hallway from your portable swamps.” Ron said, “Those were actually really fun times, it’s just too bad our children won’t have adventures quite like that. There won’t be any teachers like her while dad is headmaster.”
“Well, you guys said you don’t know who this new defense against the dark arts teacher is, maybe our kids could pull something on whoever it is.” George said.
“I guess we could let that happen.” Ron said. “if the teacher is mean.”
“Well, Fred, George we are going to leave our kids with you to take to the train tomorrow. The teachers need to get to Hogwarts tonight.” Neville said, “Ron, Hermione let’s go.”
Neville, Ron, and Hermione apparated to Hogwarts, while Fred, George, their wives, and Luna went to bed, to be ready to take the kids to Platform nine and three quarters in the morning. The three teachers arrived at Hogwarts and went to find the other teachers. They found Arthur, Charlie, and Fleur first, and then they found Draco, and Professor Binns. Then the headmaster made a few announcements.
“First off, we have finally found a Divination teacher, and now students may take that, please welcome Lavender Brown. Secondly, our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher will arrive tomorrow, but he likes to keep to himself, so I would ask you not to bother him too much. Lastly, our healer is currently sick herself, so we have healers from St. Mungo’s for now.” Arthur said, “That is all you need to know for now, you may go to your offices.”
The teachers all retired to their offices. The next morning the students arrived, and entered into the great hall. The sorting ceremony began; Harry, Ginny, and Alice were all placed in Gryffindor to join Gred and Forge. The students got their class schedules and found out they only had one Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson a week, a two hour session on Wednesday. Each year had a separate day of the week, and although the fifth and seventh years weren’t excited about having a four hour lesson on weekends, they accepted it. After the sorting ceremony Arthur stood up to make announcements.
“You have all received your schedules and you will notice Divination is now available, if you would like to sign up for the class, the teacher allows thirty students into each class for each year. You will also notice you only have Defense Against the Dark Arts once a week, for two hours, and fifth and seventh years have four hour lessons on weekends, this is because the new teacher insists it is all you will need, and the fifth and seventh years have longer lessons to better prep them for the O.W.L.’s and N.E.W.T.’s. He likes to keep to himself so be prompt be on time, and don’t ask many questions, he will help you if necessary he says, but he says he has taught lessons before and everybody learned fairly quickly.” Arthur began. “And now you all know the rules of where you can go on the grounds, I will not mention them again, now let’s begin our feast.”
They had an enjoyable dinner while enjoying a conversation speculating about the defense against the dark arts teacher.
“Who do you think he is?”
“Do you think he’s crazy?”
“Maybe he’s that Mad Eye, guy dad always talks about.”
“Can’t be him, dad said he died in the fight against Voldemort.”
“I wonder if he is mean.”
“Do you have any of Uncle Fred and George’s joke supplies?”
“Yeah let’s pull some pranks on him.”
“Yeah, dad gave me a map of this building since he helped to build it, I can get us to his office secretly, and they really have improved on the portable swamp.”
“Okay, let’s do it tonight and see how he reacts.”
That night after dinner, Gred took out the map his father had given him, while Forge found a portable swamp he had taken from his dad’s shop. The two of them told the younger ones to stay here while they did it. Gred and Forge then went up to the seventh floor where they entered a tunnel that took them all the way though the castle with an exit at each professors office. They looked at the map and they saw the exit to the Defense Against the Dark Arts office just ahead. The map said that there wasn’t anybody in the room.
They boys then entered the room, looked around and placed the swamp on the ground, it immediately began to fill the entire room, and then it just disappeared. “Looks like a Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes item, and in fact you guys look like Fred and George, what are your names?” came a voice from what appeared to be nowhere.
“We are Gred and Forge Weasley.” The boys answered. “Fred was my father,” Forge said, “and Gred’s father is George.”
“How do you know our parents?”
“I know a lot more then you think, I make it my business to know these things. Your Aunt Hermione is the librarian here, your Uncle Ron is the transfiguration teacher, your grandfather is headmaster, your Aunt Fleur teaches charms, and your Uncle Charlie teaches care of magical creatures.” Came the voice.
“Who are you?” the boys asked.
“I tell nobody my name but you may refer to me as, Professor.”
“Professor, how do you know so much?”
“That is my business not yours.”
“And how did you make the swamp disappear our dad’s made it almost impossible to destroy.”
“Keyword is almost. Now get out of my office, before I report you to the headmaster.”
The boys ran quickly out of the mysterious Professor’s office. They didn’t want to get in trouble. When they arrived at the Gryffindor common room, they told the others what had happened. “We need to be careful around him, he knows all about us, and our family, and simply made the swamp vanish, he didn’t even say anything.” Gred said.
“Be careful in your class on Wednesday, and be sure to report to us how it was.” Forge said.
“Okay” Harry and Ginny said.
The children’s first week went by slowly, and it seemed like forever before Wednesday finally arrived. The children were scared to go to Defense Against Dark Arts; they had heard things from the second and sixth years about the teacher. They all seemed rather crept out by him, but nevertheless, they said he was a great teacher. The children fearing the teacher, but excited to see how he taught, slowly made their way to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.
When they arrived in the room, it appeared that the Professor wasn’t there. They took their seats in the back of the room, and waited for the teacher to arrive. Then a voice came from the corner of the room. “Welcome to your first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson. My name is not important; just refer to me as Professor, since none of you shall ever see me outside your lessons.”
“Professor,” Harry said, “how come we can’t see you.”
“Simple, because you haven’t been trained to see me yet, not many people here can, in fact I think I am the only one that can, except perhaps your potions master. But there is no need to worry; I only do this to catch you by surprise on the first day.” The Professor then appeared out of thin air as if he had apparated. He was in all black, and his face was hidden underneath the hood of his cloak which he always kept up.
“Professor, were you under an invisibility cloak, if so how come we didn’t see it when you took it off?” Ginny asked.
“No I was not; it’s more of a little secret of mine. Now Ginny, Harry, you were the two to ask me questions, I must say you two resemble Weasley’s, are Gred and Forge your brothers?”
“No, they’re our cousins, we are twins.” Harry said.
“Well, tell your cousins they best keep out of my office late at night, I do not like to be disturbed. Now let’s begin our lesson, tell me class what would you like to learn first.”
“Can you teach us the strongest defense spell you know?”
“No I can’t, it is way too much power for anybody at this school, including the other teachers and headmaster, but I will teach you the basic one. It is as follows, repeat after me ‘PROTEGO’”
The class repeated, “PROTEGO”
By the end of the lesson, the class had mastered many counter curses, and defensive spells. After they left the class, the kids ran back to their common room to tell Forge and Gred what had happened.
“Sounds like a fun class, although I guess we will have to obey his command, he is the most powerful wizard I ever met, and I’d be willing to be he’s a stronger wizard then Albus Dumbledore or even Harry Potter.” Gred said.
“Yeah right, Dad, says Harry was the greatest wizard ever, even stronger then Albus Dumbledore, and Harry was only seventeen when he died, just imagine if he had been Dumbledore’s age when he had died.” Harry said.
“Yeah, then I bet he could’ve destroyed an entire country with just one spell.” Forge said.
“Dad said he destroyed Hogwarts once.” Ginny said. “He also said that he and Uncle Fred and Uncle George helped rebuild it.”
“You’ve heard some of dad’s stories; they are way too outrageous to believe. Like the one during his second year where the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher tried to curse him and Harry while down in the chamber of secrets while they were trying to save Ginny.” Harry said.
“Or how bout the one when he was dragged by a dog, who turned out to be an escaped prisoner, into the whomping willow which led to the shrieking shack.” Forge said.
“Or the one during his fifth year where he left Hogwarts to go fight death eaters at the Ministry of Magic.” Gred said.
“So why should we believe that Harry Potter was the strongest wizard ever, I mean has dad met every wizard in the world?” Harry said.
“Yeah dad’s stories are a little too hard to believe.” Ginny said.
“Well, mom tells stories that are hard to believe as well, like the time she and Harry Potter went back in time and saved a hippogriff and Harry’s godfather.” Harry said. “Using a time-turner for that is illegal; she and Harry Potter would’ve been arrested.”
“Yeah, our entire family tells stories like that.” Forge said.
The group then retired for bed, Forge and Gred had their defense against the dark arts lesson, the next day and needed to be ready for it. The next day, the friends all went to breakfast together. After breakfast, it was Gred and Forge’s turn to go to Defense Against the Dark Arts, and seeing as they had already encountered the teacher they were scared.
They headed down the corridor to the classroom, upon entering the room they saw their worst fears, a giant spider, like their Uncle Ron, both Gred and Forge were scared to death of spiders. They then heard a voice, “Don’t worry it’s only a boggart, I want you to get rid of it.”
The boys thought about what to do and then finally sent two stunning spells right at its underbelly, nothing happened. “Try this boys,” the voice said, “picture it as something you find funny. Then use the spell Ridikulus.”
The boys thought about the spider dressed up as a clown, wearing huge floppy shoes on each of its legs. The boys then shouted together “RIDIKULUS” the boys began to laugh at the clown spider. “Very good,” said the voice again. “You have just successfully tackled your first boggart and rather quickly might I add. Now take your seats please.”
Gred and Forge took their seats in the back of the room; they were the first students to enter. They watched as the other students entered each one taking on a boggart as they entered. After all the students entered each fighting to boggart and wondering where the voice had been coming from. The Professor began speaking to the class, “You all did great fighting the boggart. Now tell me, what you would like to learn today.”
One of the students in the back spoke up, “I heard that many years ago there was a third year that learned how to do a copreal patronus in his third year. Could you teach us to do that?”
“Well, that is very advanced magic, and I don’t really have access to a dementor to help teach you guys, so I’m afraid all I can do this year at least is teach you the spell. ‘EXPECTO PATRONUM’” the professor shouted and only he could see what erupted from his wand, due to a special spell he had invented to hide things as he had done himself many years ago.
“Professor I don’t see anything.” A student said in the back.
“Well of course not, that’s because I’ve arranged it to where only I can see my patronus. But what’s supposed to happen is a silvery gray animal is supposed to erupt from your wand and fight of dementors, at your age I’d be surprised if you could even get a silvery gray line from you wand.” The Professor said.
“When can we try?” Forge asked.
“Well, we can try now if you guys really want.” The Professor said. “DEMENERA” a dementor appeared out of thin air. “Who wants to go first?” the professor looked around the room, “No volunteers? Gred, how about you? Get up here.”
“Professor,” Gred said, “why did it get so cold in here?”
“Part of the Dementor’s effect.” The professor answered, “the only way to get rid of it now is to send a Patronus at it.”
Gred stepped up to the front of the class, pulled out his wand, “EXPECTO PATRONUM” a small gray line emitted from his wand for about five seconds.
“EXPECTO PATRONUM” the professor shouted, and the Dementor just seemed to disappear. “That was a good try, this time, think of the strongest happy memory you have, because after all dementor’s feed on happiness.”
“Professor, I don’t think I can do it again.” Gred said, “I don’t feel very good.”
“Right,” the Professor said, “here eat this.” The professor flicked his wand and a large chocolate bar appeared right in front of Gred. “Trust me, it will help.”
Gred started eating the chocolate, and could feel the warmth rushing back into his body. “I’m ready to try again, Professor.” He said.
“Great, just a second.” The professor said, and he flicked his wand again and chocolate frogs appeared all over the classroom, the student each took a few back to their desks to prepare themselves for when they fought the dementor.
Each student, got a couple turns, and the best anybody did was a long silvery gray line that lasted for about thirty seconds, which was accomplished by Forge. After class when they had all eaten their chocolate frogs, they started looking at their chocolate frog cards.
“Who’d you get?” Gred asked.
“I got Grandpa and Dumbledore.” Forge said, “What about you.”
“I got Mad Eye Moody and Godric Gryffindor.” Gred said. “I still have one more though.”
“Well, what are you waiting for; we only need one more to complete our collection.” Forge said, “maybe that’s it.”
Gred slowly opened up his chocolate frog, which quickly jumped away and was seized by Forge. Gred took out the card and looked at it. “It’s HARRY POTTER,” Gred exclaimed, “we have finally completed our collection.”
“What’s it say about him?” Forge asked.
Harry Potter is best known for his defeat of the Dark Lord. When he was just a baby, the Dark Lord, tried to kill him and was vanquished leaving Harry with only a scar. Years later, the Dark Lord returned and tried to kill Harry again. Although many believe Harry to have died in that battle, some believe he is still alive. They say that he hides himself always under his cloak so none see his face, and that he has many spells protecting his identity, if he ever did let somebody find out he was still alive, I am sure he would make sure to erase their memory. Nevertheless, Harry will always be known as the boy who lived, he destroyed the Dark Lord twice, and made sure he would never return. Harry is also known for his ability to learn and teach spells at an early age, he was the most advanced wizard for his age, and some say he was an even greater wizard then Albus Dumbledore.
“Did you hear that?” Forge said, “He always hides himself under his cloak so none can see his face. He learned spells and taught them at a young age, and some say he was a greater wizard then even Albus Dumbledore.”
“Yeah so what?” Gred said.
“Don’t you get it? That sounds exactly like our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.” Forge said.
“Your right.” Gred said with astonishment. “We need to investigate this further.”
“But you heard him; we aren’t allowed to come into his office when we aren’t called there or in class.” Forge said.
“What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him; we can get stuff from our father’s shop.” Gred said. “I’m sure they’d love to help us find out if Harry Potter is still alive, after all they were good friends with him.”
Then they saw their Uncle Ron headed toward the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. “Where are you going Uncle Ron?” Gred asked.
“I’m going to talk to the new Professor, I haven’t met him yet, and I find it best to know who I work with.” Ron said.
“We have reason to believe he’s Harry Potter.” Forge said.
“That’s impossible, although I didn’t actually see him die. I was there the day it happened.” Ron started, “he is dead. Why don’t you guys hurry back to the common room?”
Ron proceeded down to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, and knocked on the door. “Come in.” said a voice inside. Ron entered the room. “Ron Weasley, youngest son of Arthur and Molly Weasley, married to Hermione Granger, two children, twins, Harry, and Ginerva. Harry named after you best friend during your school days, and Ginerva after you sister, both of whom are believed dead.” Said the same voice.
“Yes, that’s me, how did you know all that?” Ron asked.
“I make it my business to know these things.” The Professor said.
“What else do you know?” Ron asked.
“I know more then you probably think anybody knows except perhaps your wife.” The Professor said.
“I highly doubt it, but if you are so confident, tell me what happened just before my third year in school.” Ron said.
“You and your family took a trip to Egypt, from which you brought back a sneakascope to Harry Potter. Which was always going off causing you to think it was broken, until you found out that your rat, Scabbers, was really a death eater named Peter Pettigrew.” The Professor said.
“Yes, who are you? I came here to find out about you anyway.” Ron said.
“You know more about me then you think, you just don’t realize it.” The Professor said. “Just ask yourself how I, would know about you, unless you knew about me as well.”
“Well, I...” Ron started, “Harry?”
“I’m surprised you figured it out so quickly.” Harry said as he lowered his hood, revealing his famous scar.
“Well, it wasn’t me, it was my nephew’s.” Ron said. “Gred and Forge found your Chocolate Frog card and after meeting you a couple times and having your class, they deduced that you could be Harry Potter.”
“Well I guess they did inherit their father’s brains for being mischievous after all.” Harry said.
“I can’t wait to tell everybody that you’re still alive.” Ron shouted.
“NO” Harry screamed, “You can’t tell anybody, why do you think I’ve kept it secret for fifteen years.”
“Wait, Harry, If you are still alive, does that mean.” Ron began
“Yes.” Harry interrupted, “your sister is alive as well. We have a child he’s a fourth year here. I came this year because I felt he was coming too close to accidently letting it slip who his parent’s were. We had to alter your father’s memory a couple years ago when Sirius first came to school here. He found out we were still alive, and we were afraid he would tell other’s we were alive.”
“So I can’t tell anybody?” Ron asked.
“Nobody, I will tell those I trust and want to know I am still alive.” Harry said. “Can you tell the librarian I would like to see her, also tell her to bring her special coin.”
Ron did as Harry asked him, and ran off to tell Hermione to go to the Dark Arts room. Hermione grabbed her coin when Ron had told her and headed straight for the Dark Arts office. She entered the office with the coin in hand.
“Good, I’m glad to see you still have it.” Harry said. “May I have it, after all it was once mine.”
“The person to whom this coin belonged to died years ago.” Hermione shouted.
“Or did he?” Harry said, as he again lowered his hood. “Quickly, any of the DA members that still have their coins will know where to go. Set it for nine pm this evening.”
That night at the room of requirement many former members of the DA showed up, including Fred, George, Neville, Luna, Cho and a few others whom Harry couldn’t remember. “Why are we here?” Fred asked. “What’s so important Hermione.”
“Just be patient Fred, you are in for quite a surprise.” Ron said.
“I don’t have time for this.” George said. George got up and started to leave.
“That’s really too bad.” Came a voice George hadn’t heard in years. “I was really hoping to see my favorite twin brothers.”
“Ginny.” George screamed, “Is it really you?”
“Yes it is.” Ginny said.
“Yeah but how, we saw you die.” Fred said.
“Yeah, you died protecting Harry, which didn’t do much good seeing as he died that night as well.” George said.
“No, no I didn’t.” Ginny said. “Harry saved both of us, he had been working on a spell for almost a full year by that night, that spell saved us.”
“Harry’s still alive too?” Fred said, “where is he.”
“I’m right here.” Harry said, from the back of the room.
“HARRY.” Luna screamed, “I saw you die, Harry, I was there. Ron, Hermione, and Neville were all gone because Neville had taken them to St. Mungo’s for treatment, and Ginny, well we all saw Ginny die, Fawkes had awoken Ron and Hermione just in time for Ron to see his sister die. How did you survive?”
“My spell, the one that made us explode, was actually a spell based on love, if you truly loved somebody you would be fine, you would be reassembled near the place of the one you truly loved. Nobody noticed Ginny or I reappear because I knew that she would appear near me. So I made her invisible just before I hit her with the spell. She stood right by my side until she saw Voldemort and I go into Priori Incantatem, she then left for the Gryffindor Common room. After we were sure everybody believed us dead, since we did not want to be known as the ones who destroyed Voldemort, I never liked being famous, we went into hiding back at Godric’s Hollow in fact.” Harry said.
“What happened to Voldemort?” Ron asked.
“The one he truly loved was dead, so it killed him. It’s a spell that forces you to be with who you truly love, it’s a way to find out for sure if you should be with somebody.” Harry said. “It wasn’t all me that saved us though, it was as Dumbledore taught us, the strongest magic ever, love.”
Just then Harry noticed something move in the back corner. He could only tell that it was a person, he couldn’t tell who. He wondered why nobody else noticed him, then as he saw the figure dart across the back of the room he saw something on his knee, a scar.
