I hear what your saying, but I think its more an old school (way back when like Colonial days) saying. Do you shave your hair? For Example...Back then they didnt completely shave their facial hair, they shaved off some of it to style it. But still left some hair.

Same as if you were to say do you mow the lawn. You dont say, Do you mow the ground?

out of curiousity, i shaved my pubes a while back. completely bald, balls and all. FJ liked it the first day, but the second or third day when the hair started growing out she hated it cuz it hurt her. now she forbids me from doing it.
