I think he probably did cut Ethan, he suit had the telltale three claw marks across the torso, but dudes Skrull, they have healing factors so it wouldn't matter if he did.

I was actually discussing this with someone a few months back, you can clearly see no blood or anything on Ethan's body or costume from that swipe :

If he was cut he'd have some blood on his outfit.
