It just points out what most people would tell you, crushing coal into diamond is pretty illogical; for more than one reason from what I understand. In that issue Thor was tossing around someone capable of exerting planet destroying force. It certainly wasn't for a lack of strength.

Thor's strength relies on logic. Superman's does not. Vis-a-vis, Superman is stronger.
