Don't fret too much about it. Back when Thor fought mangog he did pretty much nothing until he turned his god blast or anti force and shoved it in the beats mouth and blast him...

It's a genuine vulnerability or tanks.

Namor brought a whale thing that had indestructible hide before and they killed it by blasting something inside his mouth though I fogged the exact circumstances.

I've been readin it as since hulk is more intelligent and evolved than in the past and his own sentient mind... He can now be controlled where as in the past e was a savage raging beast thus difficult to control...
