The general theme of the graphic novel which revolves around the concept of whether or not freedom is earned or not was the defining point imo. With those lions being suddenly freed during the US bombings representing the aforementioned concept.
That scene of the big lion statue(which that old turtle told the half-blind lioness about) still standing was also a nice finishing touch imo.
