That's because that wasn't captain marvel. Billy was an adult and tried to shazam his powers out but superman froze his mouth the killed his human form before his super form could be released...

Makes sense but the thing is, in the game, Captain Marvel was still a kid. Shows this during his intro. He was powered up, he just wasn't strong enough. He called for his lightning because he was trying to get Supes off of him. This Captain Marvel didn't have super strength from what I've seen.

We haven't really seen too much out of Nu52 Shazam. What if this is an indication of his new power levels? Relative to a character like Superman, I mean.
Seems like Johns wants to give him a push, and this wouldn't be the first time a writer lowered a character's power level in an attempt to make them more interesting/relatable.
