Man, I loved that series and JLI so much.
It's such a shame that comic books have forgotten to be fun nowadays. I love grim and gritty (Aaron's Thor is a perfect example), classic superhero fare (Uncanny Avengers) etc. but a lot of them try to go for dark and serious tones nowadays. And unfortunately they fail.
That's because writers (and fans) think that in order to tell a good story for the adult demographic, it needs to be dark and serious. I can appreciate those stories, but sometimes I like plain old fun and adventure without some hidden commentary in between the lines of the futility of mankind and its darkest desires and all that bullshit.

That Avengers Assemble book seemed to be going with that style "fun and adventure" but on the downside it was written by Bendis.
This.
Uncanny Avengers is a great book, but naturally, deals with darker and serious themes given the tone of the book and the setting it takes place after. Hickman's Avengers aren't so dark, but they are really sci-fi/cosmic-y, which is interesting, because that's usually the F4's forte (naturally given Hickman's previous work). I don't follow the other Avengers titles at the moment.

Yeah. I just wonder who'll write him.
It also begs the question what this means for GL canon, Considering GL is more or less "the same", if Henshaw gets a radically new origin and what not, considering his significance in events such as Sinestro Corps War as well as his role with the Alpha Lanterns and what not, it makes the whole thing even more muddy.
And that's without factoring in the fact that Hank played a huge role in Hal going crazy in the first place and becoming Parallax.
@3:13 it makes the scream that follows 100X funnier imagining that Supes just tore his wiener off.
