Superman got jumped by four dudes and had his weakness exploited. Clark's a champ for taking that beating. And his characterization was spot on in that book given the time frame it was intended to hearken to.I never understood how making Cap look good reflects bad on Superman.

Superman crying isn't him being the champ. Its Alex Ross masturbating to his captain marvel fantasies.
He was jumped while in his civilian identity by two guys who rival him physically, another who can drain his powers, and another who possesses a material that will kill him with prolonged exposure.
Just look at what it took just to drop Superman to his knees. And sure, he shed some tears, but it doesn't make him really look like a b1tch in my eyes. He's not the first guy to shed tears of pain.
Ross thinking Marvel should be an equal or peer to Superman doesn't make him a fanboy, especially not when he's done Superman justice both in this book and in Kingdom Come.

Contrary to what you believe, not everyone ***** out if someone outshines their favorites. My complaint wasn't about cap looking better than superman, it was about superman crying like a *****. That was just OOC.
😂
Calm the hell down. Superman cried like a b*tch, no need to break into tears as well.
It'll be okay bro. I'll lend you my shoulder like Billy lent his to poor Clark.
Tbh, I think Ross was giving Superman an extraordinary amount of credit in that scene. Any one of those guys can give Superman a fight in most depictions. And it took a sneak attack and the numbers game just for them to beat Clark down to his knees and he still wasn't KO'd or worse.
If that happened in an canon comic, it would be a good feat for Superman given the context.

I'm not complaining about the beating or cap looking better. You're the only guy who thinks that way. Name a character who cries after getting beat up.
You just called Ross a fanboy who "masturbates to his Captain Marvel fantasies" which kinda gives the impression you're upset about how Cap was portrayed as opposed to Superman. But, really, Superman was the guy who basically endured a colossal ass kicking by four of his rogues and was still cognizant. And he was losing power rapidly as well. I'm actually kinda surprised you don't think that's a decent feat for pretty much any Superman.
Characters in general or guys in Superman's tier?
And for the record, I'm not trying to give you a hard time or anything, just legitimately curious as to your stance.

It was a great showing of endurance. Even if Ross is a fanboy (He's not) he still makes Superman look great. He considers them to be exact equals. Perhaps Billy is overall more powerful in his eyes and would win heads up due to magic but his Superman is still a beast.
For christ sake, in the dream, Superman is the one who survives the planet exploding and is unharmed when Marvel throws him into the Sun.
