Well the clone wars show is the only extended canon I saw on maul, the show seemed to indicate he was ride or die, it was surprising to me ...

I don't think it's Johns that is stopping Wally from coming back (at least anymore); I think it's editorial, and given that Johns (by his own admission) wrote enough Wally to last him a life time, he's not going to be pushing for the guy's reintroduction any time soon.

Though when Wally does come back, I hope he's not like Green Arrow.

Even though it's better written, it's still not nearly as good as what made him so great preboot, imo.
