Hasn't that always been the case though? Each succeeding generation of symbiote is supposed to be stronger than the previous one. Carnage is supposed to be stronger than Venom and Toxin is supposed to be stronger than Carnage. Or something like that.

The other "no name" symbiotes are not really >Venom I think though.

It's been awhile but I remember that Toxin needed help from Spider-man and Black Cat in order to beat Venom and Carnage. When he fought them alone they pretty much destroyed him. And I do believe that host plays a huge role in it. It's the second time now that Brock was shown merging and becoming one with a symbiote. I agree that Toxin is a superior symbiote overall, doesn't mean it can't be taken down by another symbiote with a better suited host. It's all about how well they're bonded together. And Brock was always #1. 😎

The Venom symbiote is just for nostalgic value, Brock can wear a symbiote called crappy-pants and he's still better than Venom awesr
