Simply being the son of Zeus doesn't automatically mean he has lightning based powers btw. Particularly since continuity supports him being nothing more then a brick.

TBF.Pak hinted at one time that Herc might still have a very small fraction of the supergod powers that he once wielded.That maybe the case here.
