No, it's because the sword simply couldn't kill him. Thor used up the sword in the process. I doubt he knew that he was going to create an even worse menace than before.
OKT could have given him the coup de grace with how Galactus looked at the end of TGoT #23... But we know he didn't...

How is it not clear? Galactus was so utterly beaten by All-Father Necro Thor. We even have Big G saying that OKT "gave" him leave so that he can eat a planet other than earth in peace.OKT could have given him the coup de grace with how Galactus looked at the end of TGoT #23... In his weakened state King Thor could have finished Galactus off with his own power. The sword was used up in the final assaults against Galactus. It's pretty clear to me. How was Thor going to finish Galactus off with the sword when it was no more? Use your head, man.

We pretty much agree. I never said that the Annihiblade did not burn out. I'm just pointing out that Thor spared Big G.

😂
That's definitely one way to look at it.
At least people can't say Galactus' status wasn't respected. I'm surprised Thor spared him though, essential cosmic force or not.
Curious what happens in that last page. First Galactus is in pain, and then he starts laughing and his dialogue turns black as dark tendrils run amok.
Did the weapon take over/merge or did Gorr come back through the weapon? A Necro-Galactus story arc would be pretty fun I think.

Go Brutaal GO!And I can't believe Galactus survived that Necrosword assault from OKT. Am I reading that right and the sword merges with Galactus?
PS Galactus' dialogue was 😘
It seems to be another loose end that Marvel will have to address sooner or later, unless this happens before Galactus becomes Franklin's Herald. I wonder if they research these things before they write them up?

OK I gotta see this
He took the Galactus engine and shot it into his core and Ego became afraid and expelled them.
What I don't understand is where it came from as the Engine was on the surface and Thanos was swallowed and dying in Ego's core.
Aside from that, nothing for anyone to get upset about. Thanos was wanked and had impressive durability but no real jobbing for the living planet as it seemed pretty clear he and his armada were utterly insignificant to Ego in an actual battle.
There was one dumb thing though: Thanos and the Black Order defeated a giant Thanos statue Ego made and they said he had been defeated physically. That makes no sense to me when Ego has way more at his disposal and even in the beginning of this story was shooting large missiles which apparently would have killed even Thanos had they hit.
You'd think Ego would learn not to swallow beings at this point. It never turns out well for him.

Nope. Marvel is a mess at this point.Do you know when this story takes place chronologically in Marvel? Is it before the IG saga (and Thanos' Death upgrade) or after?
I would have said this book took place after the Cancerverse invasion and before Infinity. But it said it took place a few years ago so it should at least be before the HOTU era but then Thanos has his new costume and the Black Order with him.....
I don't think continuity was really taken into account when this was written.
