Batman staring down Spectre like he weren't sh*t was pretty funny.

All a prolonged movie universe tie-in, I assume. They care about new readers more than diehards, as the major companies always have.

You dont suspect this may all tie into something bigger like the incursions/ alternate realities falling apart?
I guess there's a certain amount of admirable "f*ck it, let's just wipe it clean" in a decision like DC's wholesale reboots. They toed the PR line carefully talking about it to try to placate those who hated the idea of a full reboot. But that was for the press releases. A full reboot is exactly what it was. But it was to drive sales and attract new readers, without the intimidation factor of decades of continuity.
Marvel faces the same issues, but has always tried to handle it with soft reboots. Or they bring a new universe to the forefront like Ultimate. And boom, they have their "reboot" without pissing off the hardcore base. But they may reach a point where their hand is forced and they do a full-scale wipe like DC.
And it'll suck for a lot of us. But it's the industry we follow. The only way to truly avoid it is to read limited-run series or indie titles that don't share universes with anyone else.
But otherwise, yeah. Flashpoint basically killed DC for me. I've ebbed up and down on reading books at all for the last few years. But I'm likely on my way out, save for pet projects of various writers I enjoy.

Unrelated, the buzz around Constantine on this forum for the last year or so has gotten me really interested in him. I may check out the new TV show to see if it's any good. And while I'm reluctant to get into ANY comics, I appreciate the attention he's been given.
