Recent retcon. Their not magnetos kids anymore and apparently were made by high evolutionary but the story is ongoing and we don't have the full details yet.

It's confirmed their not Eric's kids though. Polaris is probably still his kid though

They still might be mutants, but the way it looks their pushing for something else. Most likely due to 20th century fox and the Xmen series.
