Evidently, the OBs have randomly changed speed to be FTL, otherwise how could they have not caught Lightray, who was obviously going less than light, since he was in 'normal space', am I right?
Superman doesn't possess the Speed Force which would protect the environment from his super-speed. Therefore he must limit his speed when he's moving within the Earth's atmosphere: Superman going all out would make Hulk's best thunderclaps look like child's play.
