I means it’s not really that far fetched

The hammer itself was forged in a sun. I’d assume without any further enchantments, the sun should be able to undo the dwarf man ship. But I don’t think it should have destroyed the actually metal/ore.

When you’re reforging a sword, a furnace would be able to undo the swordsmanship.

Yeah, but the Back to Basics issue is set "some time ago", which is explains why Magus was alive in it, even though he was recently killed in the current Infinity series.
