Doesn't make Flash useless if Superman is only slightly slower than him. Two speedsters in a fight is always helpful, and Flash can use his speed safely without harm to anyone or anything, whereas Superman has to be careful with his speed.
Flash is the best person for a job to evacuate an entire city of people from a nuke for that reason for example.

I never cared for that pov. Im happy with him being fast and strong. But being the fastest amd strongest etc gets old. It makes him the Jack and Master of all. Which shouldn't be...i simply can't find interest in his storylines because he isnt grounded
He isn't the fastest.
He is the strongest and most durable by far. Those are his top two attributes.
He is the second fastest on the team.
He isn't the best at long range either (Lanterns are) but he is respectable.
He isn't the smartest, but he is damn smart, and his brain is nearly as fast as the Flash.
He is only the best at two categories. Highly capable at everything else.
He isn't a jack of all trades master of none. He is the Ace. That's a step above. But he isn't master of all either.
If beating Superman is supposed to be the most impressive thing you can do against the JL, its only possible to be that if he is not immensely slower than the Flash. As long as he is at least half as fast as the Flash, he is the one to beat. If Flash was immensely faster than Superman, then beating him would be the most impressive feat.
I also don't give two shits about being 'grounded'. A highly overrated, overspouted factor of fiction people look at. I go to fiction to get away from real life. Not be reminded of it. Powersets don't determine relatability anyway to me. Personality does.

Superman is a bicycle and the Flash is a Lambo. He can only keep up if the car is in neutral and is getting pushed.
He couldn't even last one lap when they weren't even paying attention or trying to out race him...At higher speeds, Superman is literally a stand still statue no different from Green Arrow.

I wonder how much of it is the problem that, for the most part, Superman is faster, if not much faster, than anyone that isn't a Flash.
Between Flash and the likes of Manhunter, and even the likes of Wonder Woman and Supergirl, there is a medium to astronomical gap in speed that's hard to define at times. Yet, Superman sits right inside that gap apart from everyone else. Sure, they will have their feats from time to time, and you can argue that Wonder Woman's reflexes are close to if not equal to Superman, but there's still that tangible "It's the Flashes, then Superman, then everyone else" kind of point.
Maybe some people just don't like that Superman exists in that gap either.

Even Grant Morrison who probably wrote Flash doing the most batshit insane feats didn't show Superman as a statue to an explicitly faster than ever Wally or Barry who instantly sees and recognizes Barry and breached Darkseid singularity via his own speed.
And it does reduce Superman in his status. He is the original speedster, he was fast before Flash was even a concept. It's called SUPERspeed, not FLASHspeed for a reason.
