Not really. Clark went through hell in that fight. He flew though a red sun, Kryptonite poisonings, and watched Kal-L gets kill. But the biggest point was him fighting to uphold what it meant to be Superman.

To Clark, it’s not the S, nor the powers that makes you Superman. It’s the ideal that Superman symbolizes, to always strive to be better, to protect the weak even at the course of your own life. That fight fight was both physical and mental.
