Real deal, basically lost but managed to reason with him in the end. Pretty much like back in the day (80s or 90s) when Doom wanted a jewel back that was stolen.

Yeah it was a diamond a really big one too, but IIRC that wasn't what he was after because he crushed it with one hand in the end. Doom was in for family nostalgia or something while the thief only wanted the money for the diamond.

He crushed it to teach the burglar (The Cat?) a lesson, iirc.

Basically, Peter convinced Doom to spare Cat's life and Doom decided to crush the diamond before his eyes.
