Yeah wtf is that all about. In other stories featuring Rulk, he was shown to be a right nasty piece of work, taking pleasure in killing people. All of a sudden he wants to be a hero and hates his comparisons to the original Hulk. It doesn't really fit together-not at present anyway. When the big reveal happens, its gonna have to be written very well for the whole mess to make sense.
There is no redemption for this storyline. Honestly there is nothing he can possibly come up with that will make me OK with the last year of this b.s. or the year of green Hulk b.s. before that. Theres a reason why Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night got 8-10's out of 10 every month and WWH and this Rulk b.s. rarely break a 5.

Yeah has been such a bullshit story. No redeeming factors as far as I have seen. The thing is there was potential there, for a good mini at least. A new mystery Hulk challenging Banner. But it got so out of hand with him punching a Watcher, making Thor look like an idiot etc. It's ran it's course.

The sheer lack of consistency really grates with me. Rulk turns up beating up the Watcher, Hulk and then Thor- barely flinching when Thor hits him full force in the face, with Mjolner. He then gets beat up by the Lady Liberators, at one point being punched almost senseless in a one on one fight, by She Hulk. Rulk takes a full blooded Mjolner hit from Thor, like he was being slapped by a small child and SHE HULK NEARLY PUNCHES HIM OUT??
Then, after establishing Rulk as a remorseless villain reveling in being the "new Hulk in town" he is now shown, in the current Code Red storyline, as wanting to be a hero-and resenting being compared to Banner.

Yeah inconsistencies really bother me in comics, too. You got a point with Rulk. Loeb should be able to remember what level he put Rulk on and his characterisation, it's not like the character has been around for decades and he needs to check his notes. But that's Loeb for you.
I really don't like Rulk at all. I stopped picking up around the fifth or sixth issue. Still I see it on KMC and it makes me laugh it's so bad. Hopefully he fights Skaar and they both permanently kill each other.

You're absolutely right. Rulk has been around for such a short time, there is no excuse for inconsistencies. Its like Loeb introduced this character with no planned back story-then when this resulted in a lot of negative criticism (all action no story etc....) Loeb started writing the character differently (see my earlier posts) with characterisation that flew in the face of previous stories.
I was actually a pretty big Hulk fan like, maybe 5 years ago. WWH truly ruined it for me. Now his son has a win over Juggernaut? Yeah alright. Rulk strikes me more as a Lobo type character. He does these amazing feats but is generally not counted as canon. Thor was arguably at his most popular when Rulk tore him up. Isnt the editor in chief supposed to look this stuff over?
Its depressing to read some of the stuff that came out like 10 years ago. Deadpool used to be a brutal mercenary. Now hes a kitten. Xavier was a father figure to the X-Men, now hes a douchebag. Emma was a mid-level telepath, now shes omega level and married to Cyclops? Storm and Black Panther get married despite having really never met before? Venom, for no reason at all, gets depressed and tries to kill himself? I wont even get started on Wolverine and all his cast off characters. Sort of makes me wish we could get a real life retcon and ignore all this nonsense.

Prof.Xaviers transformation from honourable unselfish compassionate Xmen leader to deceitful manipulator really annoyed me. Couldn't Marvel have employed writers good enough to continue writing decent stories featuring Xavier, that didin't neccesitate changing his character in such a negative way.
