Novels of comics or based on comics aren't usable on the forum.

When that that become the rule? If there potrayed and presented as cannon and the history of the character why arnt they? There a reason it was put in book format, so they could go far more indepeth then the graphic novel could. They need 100 comics plus, to tell the story so instead they put in the novel for mat. If marvel has it as cannon why would it then not be cannon?

Not true, for example the last chewie apearence to date is cannon. Lucas himself outline the book at wanted RA Salvatore to write it.

So what if it not on pannel, it was presented as cannon by marvel. It was sold as cannon, advertized as cannon how can it not be cannon?

You be wrong my friend it is G-cannon. Lucas him self is one to out line the story and ask for it to be written so that star wars fans know his original cast is not unkilliable. he used it as statement to his fans. He is most certainly g-cannon

One of the original star wars cast is most certainly dead in his universe.

even if it is actually canon, it's not usable on the forum.

it isn't g-cannon.

star wars has different levels of canon. its not like comics. there are different levels, from the movies downwards...

By 1996, Licensing was keeping an in-house bible of reference materials as the volume of publications, facts, and figures grew to such unwieldy proportions that it became difficult to know everything relevant to a particular project. They finally decided something had to be done to organize the increasingly large collection of media which chronicled the Star Wars universe. A system of canon was developed that organized the materials into what was and wasn't fit for the Star Wars story.

In 2000, Lucas Licensing appointed Leland Chee to create a continuity tracking database referred to as the "Holocron". As with every other aspect having to do with the overall story of Star Wars, the Holocron follows the canon policy that has been in effect for years.

The Holocron is divided into 5 levels: G-canon, T-canon, C-canon, S-canon, and N-canon.

G-canon is absolute canon; the movies (their most recent release), the scripts, the novelizations of the movies, the radio plays, and any statements by George Lucas himself. G-canon overrides the lower levels of canon when there is a contradiction. Within G-canon, many fans follow an unofficial progression of canonicity where the movies are the highest canon, followed by the scripts, the novelizations, and then the radio plays.

T-canon refers to the canon level comprising only the two television shows: Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the Star Wars live-action TV series. Its precedence over C-Level canon was confirmed by Chee.

C-canon is primarily composed of elements from the Expanded Universe including books, comics, and games bearing the label of Star Wars. Games and RPG sourcebooks are a special case; the stories and general background information are themselves fully C-canon, but the other elements such as character/item statistics and gameplay are, with few exceptions, N-canon.

S-canon is secondary canon; the story itself is considered non-continuity, but the non-contradicting elements are still a canon part of the Star Wars universe. This includes things like the online roleplaying game Star Wars: Galaxies and certain elements of a few N-canon stories.

N-canon is non-canon. "What-if" stories (such as stories published under the Star Wars: Infinities label), game statistics, and anything else directly contradicted by higher canon ends up here. N-canon is the only level that is not considered official canon by Lucasfilm. A significant amount of material that was previously C-canon was rendered N-canon by the release of Episodes I-III.

no novel (bar novelisations of actual movies) is considered g canon.

Why isent it if it cannon sounds pritty stupid to me.

Yes it is, Lucas stated him self it was to be the death of blank. Lucas is the one who came up with the idea.....which is what I have been trying to tell you like 9 times.

because it's not a comic.

i heard different, so you can repeat it if you like, i still disagree. iirc, lucas was given a list by authors of characters they wanted to kill. lucas left chewbacca off the list he sent back.

i seriously doubt lucas would seek out a writer to kill one of his own characters, when he'd already done so in his own movies more than once. he even killed members of his original cast, so i really don't know why you got the impression he had to prove they were killable.

whatever

Thats not what he said on the interview then the issue came nor is it what RA Salvatore said. Lucas came to him specifically to write the death of chew becca............

He wanted to kill off one of the survivors from the movie, You have to ask him. Thats what he stated in the interview when the book came out and RA salvator said the same thing. Lucas is the one who created the outline and told he to kill him off at the end of the book. But left the details for him to do.

It's "canon"

For the love of all that is holy, It's ****ing spelt "canon"
