We don't know what the hell he is. Hell, Bendis probably doesn't even know what he is at this point. Just because Osborn says he's the Angel of Death doesn't make it true. Void could be some abstract evil entity composed of darkness. He could be a cosmic force of oblivion. Hell, it could be the manifestation of crappy character development itself. I don't see how Bob taking a serum to get high = him becoming the Angel of Death.
