I don't see it as all that bad by the standards of some Hulk wankery. Hulk rightly got beaten by the assembled heroes, it was just the weaker ones he gave trouble to. Sentry, Thor, Herc, those guys handled him.

I have no idea why they needed all those heroes really.

Yea it was fine. Good if you consider the usual hand ninja status beings get when they assemble in force. He beat the crap out of everyone he should be able to, and all of the beings who could take him on where handling him fine (Thor and Herc, Sentry although his about as reliable as the weather).
