The Sith Master selects a name him/herself as befits the personality, behaviour or situation of the new Sith apprentice. Or even selects one that is ironic to the new Sith's situation or circumstance (for example: Vader means father in Dutch).
The name Darth is said to be a Sith title which simply means "shadow warrior". This has been borne by most Sith since (apparently) Darth Bane.

Correction: Darth means 'Dark Lord Of The Sith'

It can't. Vader was never Dark Lord of the Sith, neither was Maul, neither was Dooku, neither was the majority of Darths.
RETARD ALERT
Of course they were Dark Lord's of the Sith. They were just apprentice Lords.
Please do not speak like that.
Tyranus = Tyrant.
Dooku = Doku, which is Japanese for Poison.
Maul = To violently attack.
Vader = Swedish for "Father".... Or dutch....
Sidious = Insidious.
