A question about when a Sith Master gives his apprentice the name 'Darth'

When a master does this, do they call out into the force and ask the force for a Darth name for their apprentice? So the force chooses it and not the master? or does the master just come up with any random name?

The Sith Master selects a name him/herself as befits the personality, behaviour or situation of the new Sith apprentice. Or even selects one that is ironic to the new Sith's situation or circumstance (for example: Vader means father in Dutch).

The name Darth is said to be a Sith title which simply means "shadow warrior". This has been borne by most Sith since (apparently) Darth Bane.

Correction: Darth means 'Dark Lord Of The Sith'

It can't. Vader was never Dark Lord of the Sith, neither was Maul, neither was Dooku, neither was the majority of Darths.

Count Dooku's Sith name comes from the word tyrant

You think?

^ I heard Dooku's name was derived from doku a Japanese word meaning "poison."

At any rate, my English teacher calls him "Count Dookie." 😛

Dooku's Sith name is Darth Tyranus. Tyranus coming from tyrant

[sarcasm]Really?[/sarcasm] 😛

I wonder where Maul and Bane and Pal(p)atine come from. 😑

I think Maul is as in "to eviscerate" and "Bane" as in "something harmful or baleful."

Maul= to handle roughly
Bane= to kill especially with poison

Palp's sith name is Sidious, meaning Insidious, meaning decieteful and the like. Bane is harm or horror I think, Maul is self-explanitory. Like when you get mauled by a tiger.

Yeah, I know, it was pretty obvious, I was being sarcastic.

Sion = Scion means heir, as in heir to the throne as DLotS, after Traya
Nihilus = Nihil is Latin for nothing, as in he is empty and needs to feed off the Force to live

Maul means 'wicked.'

What does 'Revan' mean?

That I dunno. I think Malak means Malice though.

Malak and Revan screwed up the continuity factor of the title "Darth."

But Revan and Malak were always Revan and Malak, they just added Darth in front of their name. Their names mean nothing since they have had those names all their lives.

dope sith name IMO that i just made up: Darth Vile

RETARD ALERT

Of course they were Dark Lord's of the Sith. They were just apprentice Lords.

Please do not speak like that.

Tyranus = Tyrant.
Dooku = Doku, which is Japanese for Poison.

Maul = To violently attack.

Vader = Swedish for "Father".... Or dutch....

Sidious = Insidious.
