i just hope people research rather than take your word for it
perpetuating misinformation, it's the general discussion forum, don't see why we can't talk about it, seeing that what we're talking about applies to the subject, even if it does stray a bit. You still annoyed no one uses your method of using water to drink absinthe 🙂

Water ? WATER ?wtf ?
No; You are supposed to put the absinthe in a glass, get some sugar in a teaspoon, soak the sugar with the absinthe, and light it up. Leave for a minute until the flame dies out, stir the sugar with the absinthe, and drink it.
This is how I've always done it.
Well, let me elaborate:
I don't mix it with anything, except the sugar. I place a sugar cube on top of a metal martini strainer, pour the absinthe over the sugar cube and then light it. The sugar starts to melt, dripping into the absinthe, turning it a nice shade of smoky jade. The flame goes out, drop the last of the sugar into the glass and stir. Enjoy.
It's the wormwood that is bad for your physical well-being. It's a poison.
Thats exactly the way it was done. It was that method that Johnny Depp used in the film:
"From Hell"
Kidrock, We sepak of a alcoholic tipple of a high percentage of alcohol. Absinthe ranges between 59% and 89.9% which would be almost equivalent to drinking benzine.
Its not like 'drink it from a bottle'. But hey, if you do (and down a whole bottle) I want you to make a video about it and its aftermath 😂
It's strictly a New Years drink for me. Since it's illegal here in the States, I have to order it from a store in London. It arrives in a non-discript cardboard shipping box, labelled: "Unsolicited Gift"
I have seen 'From Hell', but I learned how to drink it from an old Scottish guy in London, on a trip there when I was 19. Our parents signed a waiver before we went, since the leagal drinking age here is 21. However, I don't think the moderators were ready for a group of 20 or so 18/19 year olds drinking freely for the first time.
I've always found it tastes like black liqorice.
there are two methods:
1. The traditional method involves putting a sugar cube in a perforated spoon and slowly dripping water on it until it disolves. with the mixture being 3:1 to 5:1 depending on the proof of Absinthe (if it's spelled Absinth on the bottle, it's Czech and is therefore missing anise as an ingrediant and probably quite a bit more potent-up to 180 proof).
2. The new Czech method involves pouring the absinthe into the glass with the spoon already over it, then the sugar cube is lit on fire and as it melts, it's stirred into the glass, thus setting the drink on fire. water is then slowly added to dilute the drink and put it out.
Absinthe is dangerous either when it's taken straight or when it's bootlegged (which can actually cause combustion in humans).
(which can actually cause combustion in humans).
That's what I call mighty impressive, less hang over, more flaming alcoholic death.
Not sure if it's legal in Australia, though if not it's still seems to be available. The time I tried it sounds like I had it was the traditional way, didn't like it much though, washed it down with a much more agreeable gin and tonic (I know, I know.) But eh.
Still, don't see why it shouldn't be legal, after all, as long as the prospective consumer treats it with due respect and moderation it's not a problem - though of course it can be dangerous, but then any alcohol in excess (and not always even that) can be dangerous.

well, you don't really, um burst in flames. White smoke starts coming out of your mouth, followed by severe pain, delerium, shock, and death.
