How about another theory. Europeans have the white complexion they posses today due to the mixture of albinos and Africans. Even in present Africa, albinos are often expelled from villages because they are viewed as not being normal. The segregation of these albinos into the Caucus Mountains and other regions is why "white" people exist today.
Also, consider this notion. Melanin not only absorbs high amounts UV radiation, but also functions to absorb heat (infra red) radiation, as well. An object painted white will reflect energy, while an object painted black will absorb energy. But, and please excuse the term, black bodies will also radiate the same amount of energy as it absorbs, so that the object will cool down much faster when the heat source is relinquished. So, Africans need high amounts of melanin in the skin to absorb harmful radiation and to also, plainly, deal with all that heat.
So, if black Africans simply turned white because they migrated northwards, wouldn't it have made more sense to retain melanin to absorb as much of sun's energy as possible when in cloudy, cold Europe?
Also, genetically, black people can make white people, but white people can't make black people. That's why some Aborigines can be born with blond hair. Logically, black people came first.
Sidebar, how is Europe a continent when it doesn't flow on it's own "continental drift." Maybe it's not a continent, and is nothing more than West Asia, or maybe even North Africa.

Phft, How come a generation of black people aren't turning white in cold countries. There’s no "mutation", just extremely small genetic differences. The first people were most likely to be tan and/or olive skin type. This all comes down to Creation vs Evolution, which I don't want to poke the stick at. *runs away*

African Albino's
Sounds pretty logical. I've read similar studies that allude to this. Back in biblical times, those Africans who suffered from albinoism were called "leprous." They were also presumed to be cursed and mentally deficient during those times.
I'd say a majority of the white races today evolved from these albinos. This theory could also possibly explain why so many of the European races of today, seem to harbor this same type of resentment towards the African ones. Sadly, history always seems to repeat itself.
Evolutionally speaking I would imagine that the first humans would look quite a bit like the last of the previous species. And would include much of the variation of that species.
I tend to think that the first humans would have quite a bit of variation. Perhaps even more than is extant right now. Take a look at the multi-regional hypothesis. Just google it, it's kind of interesting stuff. Basically Humanity all evolved at the same time, but across a wide enough area that different traits could have been localized. Just a counter-theory to the "out-of-africa" hypothesis.

Bad news for you if that's how you feel. Even accepting evolution, recent science has suggested that everyone on the planet has a common ancestor less than 4,000 years ago. Even worse, the same research suggests that everyone in the same race shares a common ancestor within 2 milenia.
So is it really incest between 400th cousins 150 times removed?
