i would say just be skeptical and think s/he could be telling the truth or not. dont get angry if they lie. its bound to happened that people lie.. but i just givem enough trust not too much of it or else you would be disappointed.
anyway since your friend lied to you, well your trust towards that so called friend would be gone... oh well too bad move on
