Oh, it's more than that.

Deer are so cutesy, drinking with their stupid mouths out of the bubbling brook, until some hunter comes along and pops a cap up it's ass. THEN the deer ain't so cute is it? Bleeding all over it's stupid self, bleating out cries of pain, shaking, trying to get up, falling, frothing at the mouth, and then dying.

Moose, we see the hunter, remove the gun from his hands and beat the holy hell out of him.
