Kurt did it so that he would be idolized and life in infamy. Think about it...Nirvana broke ground in the grudge scene and escalted as they put out their albums.
Kurt wanted to be remembered, but as all rock stars, he knew that his life would have to become a tragedy.
Look at history...James Brown ( still alive ) the God Father of soul...Sure, he is still around, still making music, but outside the limelight unless you talk about his prison time.
Elvis...the King of Rock and Roll. Since his death, he has become bigger and more powerful than he ever could have hoped for when he was alive.
This follows through with all your celebrites...Salena, Jim Morrison, John Lennon, George Harrison, Lynyrd Sknyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc...
Kurt knew this all to well, and it was up to himself to live forever in death...

"With a level of 1.52 millilitres per litre of morphine as found in Kurt’s blood level, for the great percentage of people including addicts, it would induce a state of unconciousness quite quickly, in seconds, not even minutes. It would be virtually impossible for him to have shot himself with that high a level of morphine. It raises a question if he shot that shotgun, a big question."
