Medstar I: Battle Surgeons

For those who have read this book, can someone explain to me what Bleyd and Filba are doing in the story? I only got up to halfway in the book and i cant understand what the reason of putting Filba and Bleyd in there for. What are they doing? Are they bad guys? Can someone help me?

My advice? Read the damn book. You won't enjoy it if someone spoils it and if you don't read the book, why the hell should anyone tell you the rest of it?
