BUT while running Windows Media Player / Word it only Exits the current work / song and not the program. (can anybody confirm this?)

Yeh, i've knew about Ctrl + W for ages. Honestly.

And the thing about WMP/Word is correct.
Ctrl+Shift+W
Ctrl+F4

Also work.

And I found out that Ctrl+T makes a new tab in Mozilla Firefox.

I find that if I pull a face and hit my laptop enough it does just about anything I want....

Namely It stops working...

On a serious note... On the touch pad for my laptop. If I hit the right hand side of it, It acts as a scroll for any window, so instead of using the down or up I can just use the right of my touchpad... Quite swish I thought,

Have you tried sticky keys? or the other 101 shortcuts you can activate in the accessablity options?

Ctrl+W is the Close function in many programs.

Alt +F4 is the man though. He could kick Ctrl W's ass any time.

CTRL+W => Close Window
ALT+F4 => Close Program

You can use CTRL+W to close tabs and windows in both IE and Firefox.

I can use my computer entirly by just my keyboard.
