He can't just randomly get any mutant powers that you want him to have. It has to be either A: Something he normally has all the time, or B: Something from another one of your team members. Or the other guy's team members, though they all need to be mutants and such. (I don't think he's able to copy non-mutants, though the Exiles one may be different...)

If the other guy calls you on BS, you're screwed, but half of the fun is overhyping your characters.
