Black Holes have always fascinated me. Whether is scientific or fictional it has always intrigue me what they are....this news article somewhat breaks my heart. I always had the desire to actually see a picture....kinda sucks.

A picture of something that is not visible?

You can't see a black hole, but you can see the gas that is falling into the hole.

^That is pretty much what I had in mind. All those gasses circling the hole.

I wonder in what reach the light is actually attracted to the black hole..
Maybe we wouldn't be able to see anything.. at all! 🙂

I'm curious- when exactly will you see a black hole?

If you like Black holes there is a thread about them being crated in 2007. In the Philosophy Forum

A shame really. Black holes are one of those scientific concepts, cosmic phenomena that are always fascinating, so powerful. Light not even escaping. The one of the ultimate and most unknown of the universal mysteries....

A picture would have been nice, in the way mentioned, the black hole effected space around it. Maybe also living to the day they will actually be able to travel to one... what a way to go out, drawn into a black hole.

Personally, I'd rather we make contact with extraterrestrial intelligence in my lifetime...heck, I'd settle for an alien microbe.

You can see a Black Hole whenever you want, just look at Star Jones' mouth.

Hahaha!!

But seriously....she lost a lot of weight lately I'm surprise.

Don't let that fool you, being a black hole, her mouth digests her own fat cells making her appear to lose weight, when in reality her mass is actually growing.

Im really confused .... The Gas takes 200 , 000 years to get to the event horizon, but surely light is a lot quicker ? .... how do they know it is there ,if they havn't picked it up with some form of radiation .... hasn't hubble seen 13 . something billion years into the past ? 200, 000 years seems pretty small incomparisson !
