Re: Ladies' Drinks

Recently I've been told that I drink ladies' drinks. By this I mean things that are fruity or sweet, rather than just beer or scotch. I’ve always been one to go for the “foofy” drinks, anything that sweet and mixed. The site that I use for my drink recipes, thebar.com, does not include a search category for gender, so I am wondering if it's real or imagined. What do you think? Are there drinks that are just for the ladies? Any guys out there that drink fancy mixed drinks?

there's really nothing wrong with sweet mixed drinks. but make sure they are potent. never EVER drink ZIMA or wine coolers. not that those are girly drinks... they're just nasty. me, personally, i like the mixed drinks. feels like drinking juice, but that alcohol tend to creep in and sucker punch you in the balls. i don't like beer because of the smell and the taste, plus it make you pee every ten minutes. if you don't like beer or taking shots staight up, try the drop shots... a jager bomb, car bomb, cactus cooler. these are more expensive though.

rubbish. Or is it?

No, tisn't. It's because of acid/alkaline balance. Every food is either acid-forming or alkaline-forming. It's determined by the pH of the ash left behind from the combustion of the food in the body. So, it can be counterintuitive. Sugar and alcohol are HIGHLY acid forming. Lemon juice is highly alkaline forming. Orange and cranberry juice are also alkaline forming. So, you will notice worse hangovers if you drink alchol and, say, coke or something else with sugar and caffeine.

OK, new question, do you think age is a factor? In my experience, younger women drink drinks with lots of sugar, younger men drink drinks as strong as they can find them, and then as people get older their tastes get closer together. Whaddaya think?

OK, and a test, here's a recipe for a Yucatan Style Sangrita (taken from thebar.com), is it a girl's drink or a guy's drink?

Ingredients
• 1.5 oz. Don Julio Añejo Tequila
• 1 28 oz. can of tomatoes
• 1 cup orange juice
• .03 cup lime juice
• 1 slice white onion
• 1 seeded green chile
• 1 tsp. sugar
• .25 tsp. hot pepper sauce
• 1 wedge lime
...................................................................... ..........
Preparation
• Add tomatoes, orange juice, lime juice, white onion, green chile, sugar, and hot pepper sauce in a blender
• Blend until smooth and pour enough to fill a tequila shot glass
• Add Don Julio Añejo Tequila to another tequila shot glass
• Garnish with lime wedge

Guy drink, I wouldn't go anywhere near that and know plenty of same sentiment sharing ladies 😖

Heh, I asked a few of my male friends and they said "ladies drink". Maybe no one wants to go near that drink, except Jack from thebar.com.
