Thinking of it, it's probably more like an episode of a tv series...or the Buffy Season 8 comic... but that's not important right now.
Also, we'ld probably be starting from a time after this RPG, so either bring in characters from this who are quite a bit older, or make new ones. That way any new players are on level grounds.
I thought that as well, we were just doing the same thing over and over. So something like that would be a good idea. Maybe have it 10-20 years later, with the majority of mutants now "cured" by a drug, although some people are begining to develop powers - new characters, or have been on the run and managed to stay hidden - new/old characters.
I like that. But what would the new plot be? Mutants and politics have already been done. So has escaping and destroying camps.

What if we do the whole new dimension thing, but with a twist. Say for instance, a select group of us were sent to a whole new dimension because of some kind of ancient prophecy and our powers have been greatly decreased to the point of first discovering them and we have no memory of who we are and what happened to us prior to being transported to the new dimension.
While in this new dimension, it's revealed to us, (through various ways and from various people, creatures, images, etc,) that we are meant to save that world from some uber powerful dictator that wants to destroy it. (Of course, we would be separated for a while, but would later come to find each other at different points in time.)
While in earth's dimension, the rest of us are trying to protect it from these random creatures that continuously make an appearance and figure out what happened to the teammates that suddenly disappeared. They would also be trying to get help from the government, who recently called off the search and prosecution of all mutants because they thought that every mutant had been either killed, cured or captured. But as it turns out, the cure is still only temporary. It was thought to have been made permanent but it only last a limited amount of years.
As you can tell, the creatures would be escaping from the other dimension and the government would be playing a much bigger role than before. There would be little to no talk about escaping from a mutant camp and there is now a team of mutants that is recognized in the mutant population as The Crusaders. Anyone who wants to be a part of the story would have to be a mutant that has already made an escape, has never been found out, is just discovering their powers or is getting there powers back after being cured but they are very limited and have to work at getting them back to the original level before getting cured.
So what do you guys think? I just and this up as I went along and was trying to keep it as close to mutants as possible.
Ok, I haven't asked Ush yet as I've been swamped with Uni work - got a 3000 word essay due in a fortnight which I haven't started yet 🤪
Anyway, after reading your thoughts and everything, what do you think of this:
It is six months after we last saw the mutants (leaving us time to close off any left over storylines) The goverment have finally tracked down the most wante mutants (us) and lured them to one of their many labs. Trapped by the goverment, the mutants make a desperate attempt at escape, activating one of the machines. The machine sucks in several of the mutants (those who want to retain their original chaaracters.)
They awaken in a new dimension, in a city ravaged with war, pestilance, famine and death. Dead line the streets. A powerful mutant rose up 20 years previously and destroyed much of the world. He was eventually captured and believed to be executed. Now mutants are rounded up and killed by the goverment. A few rebelious factions have rounded up what few mutants that they can to save them from the tyranical rule. The rebellion (HaMLiT - Human's and Mutant's: Live together - or someone else cna come up with a better acronym - i dares ya) And it is with these people that our mutant's land with (and meet new players/mutants)
Once again fighting the tyranical goverment that is trying to control the world...although there's something bigger behind the scenes, something that will be big, and bad, and evil...
