Even only copying animals powers, he would still be way above the tournament rules.
You said it yourself, LP. 🙁

Not really.He can pull off some really cool thing by adding multiples of power on top of each other.
He can take the mass of a Brontosaurus(100 tons?) and then take the strength of a Rhino Beetle (Can lift something like 850x it's own weight), so then he's be able to lift 850x the weight of a brontosuarus.
Then he can take on the durability of a roach, and add it to the mass of a bronto, and yada yada...speed of a hawk...yadayada.
He'd win pretty easily.

•Copying octopi could let him get pounded flat and recover, or squeeze himself through tiny holes;
•Copying fireflies/squid could grant him light emission powers;
•Copying sharks/rays/platypuses/eels/whatever could grant him generation and perception of electrical fields;
•Copying dolphins or pigeons could grant him perception of magnetic fields;
•Copying bees and pit vipers could grant him IR and UV vision;
•Copying Pompeii worms (the ones around underwater volcanoes) could grant him resistance to heat;
•Copying antarctic cod or certain crickets could grant him resistance to subfreezing cold;
•Copying tardigrades could let him go dormant and survive heat, cold, radiation, dehydration, asphyxiation, for hundreds of years;
•Copying Japanese honeybees could let him increase his body temperature at will;
•Copying painted turtles could grant him immortality (in the not aging sense);
•Copying a dog or wolf could grant him Batgirl-like movement-reading abilities;
•Copying a pinyon jay could grant him superhuman spatial memory;
•Copying a dolphin could grant him superhuman auditory memory and superfast sound-analysis abilities;
•Copying a sperm whale could let him project focused sonic beams;
•Copying spitting cobras or bombardier beetles or cone shells could lead to--well, I'm not exactly sure what, since he doesn't usually change physically when he copies an animal, but somehow he'd be kicking peoples' asses from a distance. Although in a fairly gross fashion.Buddy has also done the following
-Perception and reflexes of a fly(10x human).
-Combining a dog's sense of smell with a minnow's ability to smell with their entire body.
-Build up a bioelectric charge.
Some other interesting things its conceivable he could do...
-A shark's ampullae of lorenzini. Capable of detecting a drop of blood in water three miles away, and can sense electromagnetic fields.
-Radar sense from a bat(though he may have already done this).
-Pheromone control. Combine that with elephant infra-sound and toads' hallucinogenic secretions and you've basically got close-range mind-control. Screwing with enemies' emotions and perceptions...
-Sound mimicry

Assuming the recent reports of "tabletop fusion" are correct, Buddy could copy either a snapping shrimp or a mantis shrimp, and gain the power to trigger nuclear fusion by punching it.Wiki says: "When the air bubble implodes it momentarily reaches temperatures of several thousand kelvin, comparable to the temperature of the outer layer of the Sun."
hehe
Rhizocephalans! (Shell-less barnacles which parasitize crabs) The power to change targets' sex at will!

Yeah, he just doesn't due to CIS.I just remembered, the animal doesn't have to be born on Earth, it just needs to die to pass through the Red.
Superman and Doomsday both died on earth.
Animal Man at the theoretical top of his game, copying the right animals, as many as he can at the time (or switching as necessary), is potentially a massive powerhouse - strength far exceeding class 100, multi-mach speed, a whole shitpile of enhanced and nonhuman senses, regeneration, good damage soak, ability to replicate self into several copies every second, flight, superfast swimming and burrowing, ability to breathe in water, vastly sped-up reflexes and slower time perception, sonic blasts, electric shocks, stink-based attacks if he wants etc. etc. etc.
Eyes of the tiger, man. I won't let anything slip past me. 😉
